Impossible to speculate where Stammer is going at this point, but this whole situation looks, smells and feels very much like what happened with Babcock.
The scripts involving the Leafs, Sabres and the former team are almost identical so far. - As_I_See_It

I wonder if it will end with the Leafs being the worst team in the league? |

There's a lot of similarities so far, my friend.
Edit: From a hot commodity that rarely hits the market; To a few of the teams involved; To the way the media is hyping and driving this; To the Sabres making huge offers and those offers being leveraged; To the whole Leafs organization being silent on the matter.
As a Leafs fan I'm liking how this has played out so far.
And now there's this $3.5M marketing rumour out there?!?! |

There are no similarities and if they are hyping any teams, it's not the Sabres they are hyping. |

Precisely. Pretty much the same thing that happened with the Babcock situation. |

Perhaps, but it will be interesting to see if the end result is the same.
Stammer aside, Friday definitely has the potential for some serious fireworks. |

If I were Tampa, I'd try to trade Stamkos (sign and trade with 8 years) along with Matt Carle for a mid round pick. Moving that cap would help them more than a 2nd round pick would short term. Then move focus to re-signing Hedman & Bishop. |

Identical? Babcock opted out of Detroit. Stamkos is being lowballed by his current team - sbroads24
He only opted out because they wouldn't pay him enough. I wouldn't say Detroit lowballed him given coaches salaries before he signed his deal. Just that Toronto way overpaid and we would've right there as well had they not.
And I think Tampa is offering what they're able to offer given all the deals they need to make this year and next. Much like Detroit offered Babcock what they could afford to pay.
I still don't see how they're identical though. It's been well speculated that it was more Mrs. Babcock that chose Toronto over Buffalo. As far as I know Stamkos is single? They were talking about it on GR today, but you know how that goes... |

Why would Stammer waive his NMC and lose some of his leverage when he's 60hrs from free agency?
Secondly, how does the sign and trade work in terms of negotiation and TB compensation?
Did you see Yzerman's interview at the draft? The guy could barely answer half the question and looked lost and even defeated with regards to Stammer. I think Yzerman knows that he's (frank)ed himself. |

That could be interesting. They definitely need to make room and maybe that's the only way they can unload Carle. |

Don't use the head shaking emoji at me
This is just hypothetical if he were to waive. He would be doing Tampa Bay a huge favor. |

He wouldn't. He'd negotiate the deal with the team trading for him. That's fairly common when a high profile player is traded with a year left on his deal and the team that wants him wants to sign him long term. Tampa just wouldn't give him a NMC for the first season of the deal. The old NMC is irrelevant the second he signs a new contract.
The compensation is the compensation. I'm not sure what you're asking. |

It's not as good as I remember it. They sell it at the stores around here. Crystal Beach Loganberry. I bought some last year. Was very disappointed. |

As soon as you sign a contract it doesn't go league wide immediately. Tampa would send in the paperwork for an extension for Stamkos and right behind it in the fax order would be the trade. There'd be no time for other negotiations.
Edit: Yes, they still use faxes. |

Agreed but I don't see Stamkos screwing his new team with having to take a bad contract just to get an extra year. The guy is going to hit it big regardless of where he goes. And even if he signs a 7 year deal, he will be 33 when that deal is over. Who is to say he wouldn't cash in again. Maybe not as big as this contract but I would think he would still have value at that point. |

Or Stammer could sign a 1 year deal with his new team and immediately sign an 8 year extension that begins in 2017-2018 season, ultimately giving him 9 years in total... Not just the 8 from TB and without losing the assets needed to compensate TB. |

I try to stay away from sugary drinks. Every now and then I'll get some cream soda in glass bottles, I pretty much refuse pop unless it's from a bottle. It's just better somehow lol. I really love raspberry iced tea, which realistically is just as bad though. |
