That's a crock. On WGR today they said teams have no say regarding endorsements. It's stricktly an NHL decision.

He can go out and endorse whatever he wants. He just has to do it alone. The team or a company affiliated with the team can't offer it to him. And obviously the league sponsors like Discover and Enterprise and Geico.

Stammer would instantly get his number retired if he signed the Leafs' marketing contract then signed with the Sabres.

I get all that and i can only assume the money wouldn't come directly from the leafs itself. But its long been rumoured that the leafs were going to use something like this to bring him so im curious to see how exactly they'll do it without violating the CBA both in terms of offering that money and potentially tampering.

I am resigned to the fact that the Sabres won't land Stamkos. The top rumored team's are either his former team or original six teams. All of them are bigger cities with more to offer. However, if this endorsement deal is true and allowable, it will leave quite the sour taste in my mouth. That being said, I wouldn't fault Stamkos for signing it if he could.

I don't care where the (frank) he signs as long as it's not Toronto. I'd like him here for bragging rights but I can't stand him signing in Toronto

I remember Stammer's first game in buffalo. Started catching some heat about not scoring. They talked about his family being at the game on the broadcast. Then scored his first two goals and has been a Sabre killer ever since. Miller was great at getting a rookie off the Schneid.

I honestly believe that if we don't land Vesey or Stamkos, a lot of people are going to turn on Murray very quickly.

This is a very big off season and upcoming season for him.
