I really want no part in Nash. Nerve problems in the back are no trivial matter. They didn't even know it was his back for months. They thought it was his leg, had a ton of scans done before they even thought to look at his back. I have nerve issues in my back and there are days I can barely walk and have to kind of drag my foot. It sucks.
Edit: You know my position on Hoffman. - Wetbandit1
I actually don't remember your position on Hoffman and I thought he looked alright in the playoffs or am I imagining things? Cap hit is heavy but its for 2 years kinda ideal especially if the price to get him isn't too high. |

LTIR doesn't kick in until the season starts, and they can only go 10% over, but if they have $7M in space right now they'd be able to accommodate his contract, barely. They'd have to make moves after the fact, but they'd still be able to sign him. - Wetbandit1
Thats what i was trying to get at. They can do it and make those moves after. |

I will definitely give you a 1st and a prospect/young player that is divisive amongst our fans. |

Huge fan of Hoffman, and Stone for that matter. That's the thing with the back though is it's a day-to-day week-to-week thing. One day you're jumping around the next you literally can not walk upright. I mean Mario did it for a couple years where he couldn't even tie his skates, but as good as Nash is he's not Mario. Mario knocked down a few levels was still a world class player. Nash knocked down a few levels is an average player with an almost $8M cap hit.
We should see if we can snag Stempniak for like $2M or something. But I just saw Eklund said the Sabres are in on him, so... |

Certainly concerning, I don't know maybe ive got blinders because I was huge fan of the in prime nash but I like what he brings (or brought i guess) and i think maybe it could work with him and eichel. Again this would all be for the right price because you are taking on a decent risk with a close to 8 mil cap hit.
Agreed on the bargain shopping in FA though, last thing this team needs is another Moulson. I hate Isle number one (Okposo) but the more I look into Id really like them to take a run at Nielsen. Im not sure how he is on the wing or if he'd be willing to play there but on paper it looks like a good idea. |

I liked Nash too. He just came into the league right around the time I started seriously following hockey. Before that I'd watch Sabres games and look at the standings and league leaders in the Sunday paper and see that mother(frank)er Jagr at or near the top every goddamn time.
I don't think guys like that really get to dictate where they play. They just play where they're told. Whether he's good there or not is another story. And I like him, but I have no idea how he is on the wing. |

Strange question:
Is there a list that shows (notable) players that were not qualified? |

Look at those (frank)ing guys.
In one fell swoop, we have improved this team immensely, just by grabbing PU.

Right but hes a UFA likely want to go somewhere that can offer him what he wants in terms of role on the team.

That's true too, but at the same time money talks. I'm not saying the Sabres should overpay for Nielsen, but if it's competitive money on a better team it's hard to walk away from. |
