LeBrun: I really feel either Stamkos re-signs w/ #TBLightning, or it's #Leafs, #RedWings, or #Sabres. "To me, those are the big four."

If the Bolts will do a sign then trade, what do we think would be the piece(s) going back?

FWIW Rivet said a 2nd next year... I don't think that gets it done.

Then the Bolts get nothing. They have almost zero leverage.

yeah. I dont understand why another team would let the Bolts negotiate their contract in this situation.
Just sign him yourself in 3 days.

This gives Stamkos the 8th year, but to a team that cannot offer it.

Stamkos gets his 8th year and the Lightning don't lose him for "nothing" I would say a conditional 1st. It is a 2nd that can become a 1st if the Sabres win a playoff round

Lower AAV

You can go 7 years 84MM
or
8 years 84MM

Extra year for Stamkos, Saves cap space for the team.

He has had 27, 26, and 21 goals in his past 3 years. Granted he is 32 years old and I agree I wouldn't want anything more than like 4.5M for 3 years MAX.... but he would still be a solid vet contributor here.

Especially if this team moves Kane (assuming we get Stamkos) Slot ROR on top LW and Backes on 2nd line RW next to Vesey and Eichel. Could be pretty.

How many times are we going to hear the same thing over and over. He will go where he wants to go. Money will likely be the same from any suitor

Pegula will not let this one get away. I cant wait to see the deal he actually signs. Pegula is dong the majority of the talking and negotiating on this one. it won't be because of $$ he doesn't sign with buffalo; if he doesn't sign
- rinaldo

Ahh .............. I doubt that.

They've got plenty of leverage .............. I don't understand that assumption.

You get Stamkos without him hitting the market. It's a quite attractive option for Buffalo.

The only hesitation for the Bolts would be a team backing out of the deal. I'm sure there would have to be a firm deal in place that guarantees Stamkos will be going and the return is already defined (hopefully no more than a conditional pick).

Stammer doesn't agree to this.

If he's going 8 years, then he's getting paid for it, not taking the same bottom line. Your $84M figure becomes $96M... Same AAV.

No, no they don't.

The only person who holds all the leverage is Stamkos.

That's it. Yzerman knows he screwed himself.

The only way Stamkos agrees to a sign and trade is if its with the team he wants to sign with.

Stamkos is already on the market.

Stammer also has a NMC until July 1.

Again, Yzerman/TB have next to no leverage.

They have nothing. They can't do a sign and trade with a team Stamkos wont approve, so their only just ghost writing his negotiation with another team.

All they have as leverage with that team is the ability to add value, but only for three more days, and they get to ask to be paid something for those three days.

This...

The only "leverage" they hold is being able to offer Stamkos that 8th year to his next team. For a 2nd round pick they should take it.

All I can say is if Stamkos signs for anything less than 11M, I'll be very displeased.

With all of this talk, he better become the highest paid player or it's all been the biggest waste of time.
