Maybe eventually but right now we need a legit top 6. At times last year we had ZERO secondary scoring if it wasn't coming from Eichel or ROR I remember. Taking away one of their best might not be the best choice.

NOW... if we add two more top guys like Vesey and Stamkos then... we would have the depth to do something like that.

I think we have to add a top 6 forward or two regardless, but Sam, Jack, and O'Reilly are all centers that should be able to improve the players playing with them.

He'd create a lot of space for Eichel or Reinhart. I'd be fine with a 3 or 4 year deal if Murray misses out on Stamkos.

Just an observation.... I just checked 2 Cap sites, and both have Toronto with just under 7 mil in Cap space / 36 contracts. I'm not a math wiz but it seems like they'll have to do a bit of trimming in order to accommodate Mr. Stamkos.

In general yes but they can sign stamkos first since the relief from LTIR will give them that extra space. After that they'll need to move some players around to address other needs. Guys like Bozak and Lupul i imagine.

He has had 27, 26, and 21 goals in his past 3 years. Granted he is 32 years old and I agree I wouldn't want anything more than like 4.5M for 3 years MAX.... but he would still be a solid vet contributor here.

Especially if this team moves Kane (assuming we get Stamkos) Slot ROR on top LW and Backes on 2nd line RW next to Vesey and Eichel. Could be pretty.
