I really hope this gets done. Cullen is a great vet leader. Like the article said, he was a great d-zone center an and scored big goals.
I have read NO WHERE that Lovejoy is anywhere near a lock. And they didn't tender Shultz. There's the need. - Doogs
Rutherford said in a televised interview from day 2 of the draft that he was comfortable going into next season with
Dumoulin Letang
Maatta Daley
Pouliot Cole
He said one of the bottom pairing guys will have to play their off side. That will be just fine. They don't have cap space to re-sign Lovesuck and Shultz unless they dump Kunitz but it sounds like he likes his te and doesn't want to change anything. |

he hasn't signed yet. if you found that he has signed for 36mil over 6 years it is bogus - martox
The speculations from the Edmonton Journal is its around 6 mil per season for six years... My point is that I would wait to call it a good deal till the exact numbers are out... |

Very touching.
This isn't a Sid thing, its a mother-son thing. - brienstel
Yeah but Sid going out of his way to pass over all of his buddies on the team to find Daley and make sure his mom got to see him says Sid really cares about his teammates individually and that's how a captain should be. That's great leadership that Daley will never forget. |

Kunitz is fine for 1 more yr. Extending him was fine, but him and Dupes not so much. Then throw Scuds and it gets you the NJD GM job.
Cullen, might be fine for a 4C. I would not look to extend Bonino or Daley. They will ask for too much and will be too old.
I do agree with Malkin. They could have raked it in with his extension. Now they have a pt/game player for 60% of the season. - sammy87
Cullen might be fine for a 4C? He was an awesome 4C this last season. I get that he's old for a hockey player, but it's not like he will completely succumb to old age during a 3 month off season. It's reasonable to expect a similar season with maybe a small drop off.

No one is offering Cullen a 4 year deal. Extending Kunitz was the right move. The guy still out plays Sheary/Rust/Kuhn any day of the week and earns his paycheck. Duper would be in the same boat prob if not for blood clots. Extending Malkin for 9.5 was the big mistake. We have a 5 million dollar center getting paid twice what he's worth. - Grinder47
Not a true statement made in this entire paragraph except the first sentence which is just a duh to begin with. Sheary, Rust and Kuhnhacle together don't make Kunitz's salary and each impacts the outcome of the game on a much higher scale than Kunitz does. |

The offseason? Nope... halfthrough the year he might finally be out of gas? Possibly. |

Because we need the space for Yak who put up a massive 8 goals last year, but on the Pens it would be like 500. - sammy87
Maybe we can trade Malkin too, you have plenty of off season to bang that drum again. |

So since the reaction on this board wasn't as bad as I thought, I posed the same Fleury for E. Kane deal to Buffalo fans. And half of them said yes and the other half said they no thinking they can win with Lehner.
I know some of never want to see that guy on the Penguins but I think we have the right leadership and disciplinary coach now...I wouldn't worry too much about baggage.
And it sure beats trading Fleury for a pick and then signing a mediocre free agent to big money (imo) |

It looks like Kane could be in big trouble this summer. There's no way the penguins want anything to do with that.

sidenote: we are fine on bottom 6th depth, but just curious...what is Matt Martin worth on the open market? |

Nah, he's not getting in any trouble for this latest incident. Yes, he's a bit of a douche, but the worst claim from the chick was that he grabbed her arm.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him get 2.5 mil +. Part of me wants him gone so we don't need to deal with his tomgoonery any more, but it'd be great to see Snow totally overpay for him. |

Heard he got into an argument, grabbed her, and tried to throw her in a car. May not get in trouble but just the worst kind of person.
Edit: also there's reports that say he grabbed her by the throat, not the arm. |

just to be clear....im not defending him....I just dont care all that much about off ice stuff as a hockey fan. Sure I think Patrick Kane is the worst kind of person, yet I would love to see him on Sid's wing. |

holy poop edmonton's forward core is discusting now if they sign lucic... mc david, lucic, RNH, draisitel, hall, puljujärvi and eberle... - martox
You look at that roster ... I have no idea where anyone slots, absent centers. Go to the draft thinking they need D ... pick a winger and then are in the process of signing Lucic. Still have no earthly idea what the plan is to get Dmen. No one is going to give up a good one, unless Edmonton is going after Shattenkirk.
Until they start pawning off some of those core guys, this is still a mess.

So, trading for a problem child that is due to make 5.25 for the next two years is the answer? I'm betting the half that said yes, were thinking moreso to get rid of a problem child that could wind up in jail.
I would rather have a pick than trade for a punk like Evander Kane. This is a no. |

They'll find a dman, getting puljiarvi or however you spell it at the draft gives them the option of throwing Hall and Nuge in a deal.
Nuge + Hall for Subban, you gotta think thats too sweet to turn down. Or the same deal for Weber? |
