sounds like grinders wet dream. his production is really bad though - martox
Well, our last pick last draft is a kid that is going to be a freshman this year at Penn State. He is a 6-7 kid from Russia that led the USHL with 150+ Pims.

Or we can ice the best team possible. I don't understand why after last season people are still advocating gooning up against these second rate, poopty, agitating teams. Nothing feels worse than losing to them, and the best way to avoid that is to play our best available, not sink to their level and play one or two goons as a "countermeasure". I didn't notice one iota of difference when Sestito or Farnham played last season except that there was one guy on the ice that clearly wasn't an NHL talent. - Victoro311
I'm not getting into that whole debate, but losing players to injury from constantly being run feels worse than losing a meaningless regular season game. And yes, we have several key players who are an injury away from torpedoing the team's chances (Letang, Malkin, etc.). I want someone else fighting the proverbial fights when the rough stuff inevitably starts up with goon teams. |

So, read the NJ did not qualify Brittle Beau. Why did I think since Pittsburgh qualified him to trade him that NJ had to accept the qualifying offer that Pittsburgh qualified him at? Was it $1 million? |

Shero mustve retroactively paid us back for that whole draft thing. |

But having goons in our line up will not stop their goons from taking cheap shots at our stars. If anything our goons would just motivate the other team to cheap shot our stars more. For every borderline hit our guys make, their guys would have to respond in kind until it gets out of hand. The best way to keep them at bay is with a strong powerplay. If we keep putting in the goals and not engaging in after the whistle play, we hopefully take the other team's will out of the game. |

Was it the Shero hire that should have netted us a 3rd round pick and JR declined it? If so, that makes the whole Beau Bennett trade very ironic.
Might not have been the Shero hire...but I know one of those mgmt position hirings, JR did not take the free compensation. |

did they seriously give up a third rounder for someone they had no intention of doing anything but allowing to become a UFA? |

I think you are right. I am pretty sure we got Buffalo's 3rd for Bylsma, but not NJ's 3rd. |

They'll try to sign him for less than his qualifying offer. |

That's a good theory (and one with which I agree) for playoff games, not regular season games. No one will ever convince me that taking the high road and being a punching bag in a league that doesn't adequately discipline cheap shots is a wise course of action. I will agree to disagree and leave it at that. |

NJ is cheap. We are talking about a guy that was qualified at 1 mill right? They want him at 750k? Penny pinching. Not that BB is worth 1 mill, but ...

Odd... thought that since we qualified him, that contract was done and a lock. NHL RFA rules are just freaking stupid. |

Lucic to the Oilers done deal will be official July 1. What a difference a McDavid makes. Edmonton also signing Jason demers. No idea why. |

He deserves a raise but he knows how the salary cap works I think he just liked his experience here and understands what his role in the organization is. Could lead into a coaching job in the future. There is also life after being a player. Ask Gonch, Billy G,Recchi etc - holeinone
What happened to the real holeinone that was a Richard and called everone hippies and conservatives and knew nothing about hockey? Did he finally did of old age? I almost like you. |

No one is offering Cullen a 4 year deal. Extending Kunitz was the right move. The guy still out plays Sheary/Rust/Kuhn any day of the week and earns his paycheck. Duper would be in the same boat prob if not for blood clots. Extending Malkin for 9.5 was the big mistake. We have a 5 million dollar center getting paid twice what he's worth. - Grinder47
you have no understanding whatsoever. Your hate for a player clouds your ability to realize that Malkin is a Top 10 player in the league. |

Nope definitely doesnt make sense with a 3 young children at home. Doesnt make sense to make as much as he can for his family while he can..in what could be his final year playing pro hockey... - MattStrat
There is always work for a 20 year veteran after hockey. Coaching, scouting, etc.... |

Not sure why people wanna trade Kunitz. He's scored 17 goals in each of the last 2 seasons and lead the team in hits this past season. He's good on the forecheck and wins board battles....next year I'd rather have Kunitz and his 17 goals at $3.75mil than Cogliano and his 9 goals for $3mil or Shaw for $3.9mil - willi
Because we need the space for Yak who put up a massive 8 goals last year, but on the Pens it would be like 500. |

6 for $36 million... I'm not quite sure I would call that a great signing ..that sounds like overpayment to me |

Kunitz is fine for 1 more yr. Extending him was fine, but him and Dupes not so much. Then throw Scuds and it gets you the NJD GM job.
Cullen, might be fine for a 4C. I would not look to extend Bonino or Daley. They will ask for too much and will be too old.
I do agree with Malkin. They could have raked it in with his extension. Now they have a pt/game player for 60% of the season. |

he hasn't signed yet. if you found that he has signed for 36mil over 6 years it is bogus |
