What time does Free Agent Frenzy start on Friday? I know we'll be sitting this out but I love it just the same.

I get the feeling the Stamkos situation could be like the Parise contract with the Wild. He signs several days later.

10am ET I think.. Maybe noon

I think Det and TO offers same but I have like 60% to TO and 30% to Det and 10% mystery team.

And you never know we could make a trade and get someone...jk

Fleury, Kunitz, Cole, Fehr are traded and the pens sign stamkos.

For some reason I think Buffalo is going to massively over-pay.

Sure, we may see a trade but I kind of doubt it. Our hands are tied unless we move MAF or Kunitz and I don't see that happening. Hope I'm wrong.

I still like my idea of going after Hall after edm gets lucic and demer.

I think Lucic is one of the most overrated players in the NHL. It would absolutely make sense that the Oil would sign him and send Hall packing.

Even if we had the cap space, I don't see the Pens having the assets to get a player like Hall.

It would start with a 1st, then add letang or maatta then add another 1st and try to throw in kuni or fleury haha

Only way I see a potential Hall deal is if the pens trade maatta+ for him. If pouliot was showing signs of stepping up (like dumo did last year) id actually be for it, but Maatta is an important defensive piece when healthy

Guys wake up. Hall is not going anywhere. It's been reported that RNH or most likely Eberle are the ones to go. A deal around Eberle for Shattenkirk. I'd put my money on this One.

We're so thin at D. Even if DP was playing better I'd be reluctant to deal Maatta. Unless MAF is moved I think this team will look virtually the same. We did win the cup so that's probably not a bad thing. We could use a LW and a D however in a perfect world.

If he truly is a lazy player then he isnt going to do well in the NHL. Other players aren't going to put up with it and he will be ostracised. You think Crosby, Letang or even Cullen is going to be okay with him not putting in the effort?
Letang is the best dman on the team and he's in the gym 26 hours a day, if Pouliot doesnt think he needs to work as hard as Kris Letang than that's a problem.

I hope he puts in the work this summer, I would really like to see what that kid can do.

I thought kessel was lazy. Ate a half dozen hot dogs before every game.

I'm being completely honest I don't think kessel comes close to reaching his talent. I don't think he eats right. I don't think he plays 100% during the regular season. But his talent level is elite. Plenty of guys make it in pro sports on talent. Shaquille O'neill was considered lazy...perhaps the most athletic guy to ever play the game. But he was still a great player even if he didn't outwork a lot of other guys.

Point is some guys can be good players without the commitment another guy has to make. Pouliot might be as talented as letang. A lazy letang might still be a good 4/5d.

From what I've seen, I wouldn't count DP as one of those guys who can make it on talent alone. Sure, some "less than elite" guys can make it on talent, but their careers are brief.

Mike Johnston did an interview where he was asked about DP. Without being overly critical, he said DP lacks a quick "first step". He was basically referring to his reaction time....not just his skating. He seemed to be saying that DP lacked the ability to read and react at NHL speed.

I have to be honest, I see exactly that in his game. Is it fixable? Probably. Is it fixable for a lazy player (as rumored). I doubt it.

Beau Bennett was a crushed dream. After trading away pick after pick, we finally a skilled winger picked in the first round to play with Sid for the next decade.

Then Pouliot, we actually got a pick in the top 10! We can draft a number 2-3 defenseman for the next decade.

Those guys are huge misses. We needed real impact players. Homegrown top 6/top 4 types.

Credit where credit is due. I love that our staff was able to develop guys like Rust and Murray....but man I wish we could draft a top 6 winger/top 4 dman.

Pretty sure we already have. Sprong & Maatta, throw in Dumo there as well. See how Rust, Sheary & Wilson go & there's more than what you asked.

I wouldn't say Bennett was a miss. In the sense that he was a poor draft pick. In his limited time staying healthy without proper training the production seems to be there. If you consistently pick Bennett types with late first you are getting fair value. Scouts are not going to be able to predict bennetts injury problems when he's 18.

Pouliot was a reach where we took him . If he's the 18th pick in the draft then he projects as a 3/4d and is only a little behind schedule. The league is filled with slow developing defenseman.

I fail to see Pouliot as a total bust. He still got time. Give him a couple years max.

100 days till 2016/17 season and I thought of an idea to pass the time without wanting to kill each other (as much). What if we had a countdown and each particular number we debate best Pens player to wear that number or even league wide... Example 87 days to go, #87, Crosby. I'd rather debate that than trade rumors that will never come to fruition.

He's not a total bust yet, but I think he's teetering on the edge. He better "get it" soon. I think the team would tolerate a long learning curve for a hard working guy, but If those rumors are true, I don't think Sully is the kind of coach that will be patient with a lazy player.
