Jordan Weal for Hartnell with the NMC gone and $750K retained.

Saves them several million dollars and a protection slot.

that could be fun

wow no love for phish from any of you. That band blows my mind almost more than the dead even do. But it was a fantastic show, you schmucks are missin out
- benjichronic

Again, if you want to see a fair band play a 4-hour show where they only actually play 7 songs and a bunch of random music that sort of meshes while you get stoned, I'm sure they're quite enjoyable.

Not my idea of a good concert, though.

The way that Pittsburgh brought in Bill Guerin and Mark Cullen as parts of their young nuclei?

I'd have no problem with Hartnell as $3.5M for 3 years. You can't have all young guys on the team, you need some veterans (yes, I know we have some). I think he had a great attitude here, and added some swagger as well. I'd like to see the guys see that first hand.

- jmatchett383

Didn't those two teams go to win cups?

If the Flyers were closer to contending I might be more for it. But at this stage I wouldn't.

And again, I'll state that it is completely irrelevant how many people do and don't go to arbitration. Schenn might, might not. What someone else did or didn't do is completely irrelevant
- AllInForFlyers

It's not irrelevant when you're stating that we don't know what a team is thinking, and how they approach negotiations. The fact that it doesn't happen that often, is a clue to how teams approach contracts with players.

I'd like to think that they should be in talks by the end of the deal. And right now you can get him cheap(ish). Again, it's more than just his on-ice play, it's his personality and persona I'd like back on this team to give them all a little kickstart.

Hahaha I can't even argue with that thought. To each their own I suppose...

Anyways... flyers should offer sheet Seth jones. Boy is a stud.

Keep in mind I know Couturier and Schenn are not very compatible as players, but did Coots have his break out year when he signed the extension?
- Glak18

Flyers can do what they want.

Personally the most I go for bSchenn right now is 5 million for 3 years.

No more money, no more term.

One true breakout year, with seasons before that may have had decent numbers but he had very long stretches where he was absolutely no more than a warm body.

I've grown to like him but if he wants better than that, go get it from someone else and hope you get to play with someone as skilled as G.

wouldnt it be different if he was guaranteed to play in the CHL? whereas its sorta up in the air now, almost leaning towards not playing in the CHL this year.
- sjk540

That's why he went 20-something and not top 3. He just went to a middle-of-the-road team (that's OK), but they're in the boonies of eastern Quebec in Chicoutimi. Tough winter travel. It's probably not a team the Flyers are thrilled about, if he even could get out of his KHL deal.

The Grateful Dead are the most celebrated jam band in the history of jam bands. I grew up listening to them more than any other band from the time I was born. And you know what? They're okay. They have a following because they did something interesting on a scale that no other band did and surrounded it with a culture.

Phish are a much less talented band who developed their droves of followers after Garcia died and the neo-hippies needed a new band. I'm not saying they're really a bad band who can't play their instruments, but they're not good, either. They got a following based on a culture when they could fill a niche.

Also, keep this in mind: Nickleback sells out arenas worldwide, so...yeah.

Can't be scared to stand your ground as a club. There are players at times that want too much money, and want a club to take on too much risk.

Leino, O'Reilly with Colorado, the list goes on and on.

It would be unfortunate but I want the Flyers to stand firm here. Set a culture where fair deals will be done, but the club is done giving out moronic deals.

I don't want him back.

Also think if Hartnell was still here would Schenn get the chances he did? This is a rebuilding team.

I want guys that are here to get those chances to develop or grow.

- J35Bacher

Think of all the arbitration talk we could have avoided if Schenn was on the third line all season.

I'd do it. Just offer him 6 years at $5.5M and see if he signs it.

So, basically, the Andy Reid-era Eagles where you get what we say you get, and if you don't like it, get the (frank) out?

Honestly, 3 years for 5 million is more than fair.

You were (frank)ing hated before this season because you looked like you were asleep on ice for months.

He can go (frank) himself if he wants more. Go suck some rocks with Luke.
