I would have put down a red and white checkerboard table cloth to really jazz it up.

Would you match an offer to CK at 6 years 5+ mil. Per? Or take the picks? I have a feeling someone gives him an offer sheet.

Take the picks. That's a 1st and 3rd pick based on last year's compensation.

For whatever reason, no one has ever offer sheeted a Rangers' player, despite the fact that the Rangers' always put the squeeze on their RFAs. It will probably happen some year, but it always seems like we worry about it, and never does happen.

At $5 million per, it would be a 1st and 3rd rounder as compensation. I would probably use the week match time period to try to negotiate a better deal than that, but would probably take the picks in the end.

It doesn't happen often, it can be a slippery slope once you go there. teams could be very spiteful in the future.
I would def let Kreider walk for a 1st, 3rd and all that saved cap room.

Also, keep in mind that you have a week to make the match decision, which you can also use to negotiate with the team that offer sheeted your player. So, if the 1st and 3rd isn't enough for you, and they really want the player, you can try to sweeten the pot. If that fails, you can either match or not match once the week is over.

No it doesn't happen very often but everyone is so high on CK that I can see it. A 1St and 3rd not that bad for his potential. I don't think we could the

I think most teams are aware that Kreider is what he is at this point. No offer sheet coming and to be honest any offer over 4M per year that is long term will be a mistake.

I agree. He had along leash this year and he only put up 21 goals (the same as the year before) and 43 pts. In a contract year, he did us a favor by "under performing".
He should've potted 30 this year with his linemates and his time in the top 6 if his output matched his perceived potential. If, as a Ranger fan, you want him to stay, he did you a favor because he will be cheaper than expected for the beginning of the year

He MIGHT be cheaper. You never know with arbitration if it gets that far.

They would wait until the last possible minute to match, making you sweat.

I wouldn't worry, they need someone to talk Russian with Buchnevich. Otherwise, they'll have to bring Alex Kovalev out of retirement.

So, was I.

There was so much talent on that team when he came back the second time, and they still sucked. Amazing.

He never played well wit the Rangers though(outside the 94 Playoffs). He was good wit the Penguins and Habs. Never the same with the Rangers.
