Ej is at the point that where he needs to be the guy. And we brought in zads to be a top 4. So having Ej help him should work. Be mind full of zads mins but slowly increase as development progresses. Barrie and bigras. Barrie is barrie. Offense first. But I'm hoping is defense improves coupled with that he will be better and bigras I think will be a solid. Again young buy I think by the end of this year we will be impressed with him and his growth. Beauch and Siemens, a steady vet, and our new shut down d man. Basically he needs to learn how to play in the nhl. If he pans out then great if not, ahl reassigned and the last part of the blues trade is done. But if he can turn into a shutdown 3Rd pairing guy that would be awesome.

For signing a top 9 in FA, I would like (order of want) Backes, Brower, Kyle O, matthias, Ladd. If we could land any one for 2-years at 2.5 to 4 let's say I think that's a win. They can go from top line to third, I get that some are older but the way the market is, 3 of them should be available after July 5th and might take a shorter deal so they can cash out later, but by then we will have some young guns coming up (jost, compher unless he makes team this year, natel(4th line guy) Greer/Morrison ( at least 2 years away)

You forgot about Gelinas. I'd expect the Avs to bring in a depth guy so Seimens is 7/8

Also having Beauch/Zads is a good idea as its by far the best partner to help him develop and show him how to play.

Backes, Brouwer, Okposo and Ladd will all be too expensive.

Sakic is smart, general fan bases are just generally misinformed by mass media's subpar click bait articles that are out there now a days. If I was a fan of a Canadian team I would try and distract myself by making fun of other teams too.

As a Jets fan, I resent that comment. Don't lump us in with the incompetence of Montreal, Vancouver, and Edmonton. Our GM DESTROYED Buffalo's in the Kane trade.

I want Demers. Why does Edmonton always show up as the favorite to nab any decent UFA defenseman. What other UFA defensemen should the Avs be looking at for depth?

Demers seems like a short term solution that wants a long term contract. It would be good for the next year or 2 but could hamper them in the future. It reminds me of Matt Carle signing in Tampa Bay a few years ago.

I dont. Not that he isnt good, but valuable cap space this season so woudl rather invest in the lacking winger issues vs the D. Just let the kids play in Bigras, Siemens, Zads instead of adding another road block in a Top 4 Dman.

They should add a Depth Dman, but more in the Wiercioch, Trotman, Paliotta kind of guys.

Guys like Demer or any other Big names are going to want NMC and long term contracts. I do not want to see this team sacrafice having to post Zadorov in the expansion draft just bc they are forced to protect a UFA dman

I'd say we will surely be on the outside looking in come playoff time if we plan on running 3 very raw, young defensemen. 1 of which only has 1 game of NHL experience and many people didn't even think he would receive a qualifying offer.

Wiercioch could be a good depth signing, but the other 2...haven't we learned our lesson on signing AHL guys to NHL contracts? I'd rather keep Redmond.

I like what bsn had in there article today about defense men and free agency. On one hand bigras and zads will be here but aren't necessarily ready for the top 4 roles yet. So signing a day guy for 1 to 2 years to fill a gap is what I feel they will do. Also if they plan to give gelly and Siemens a shot too there really aren't to many different spots open. Granted I feel Siemens will stay for the preseason and maybe a few games before getting sento back for top minutes like zads last year while keeping gelly up in the big club as the 7th or 8th d guy.
