I'm not sure I'd be entirely comfortable moving Zibanjejad to his off wing to make room for Staal as 2nd line centre.

Staal only managed 39 points last year. He managed 54 last year because of a very hot end to the season. Zibanejad is a natural centre who has play RW, but struggled a bit there. I don't think things would be improved by him playing his off side instead of MacArthur on the LW.

Zibanejad is still trending upwards on his development line. Granted, that only looks to be 55 points or so unless he makes a jump, but that is more than Staal has done the past couple years, and Staal is trending in the wrong direction.

I'd prefer Staal on the LW, which he has played in the past. But if he won't play there, I don't like his cost.

2nd line, move zibby to the wing......alleviates the fear of macarthur's injury concerns, start him back slow on the 3rd line

that being said, would only offer him a one year deal if he insisted on playing top six

What is Eric Stall at this point in his career? A 15G 30A Center ? I don't think he's a top 6 forward anymore on 2/3 of NHL teams.

If Eugene wouldn't spend $$$ on Spezza I doubt he lets Dorion sign for the $$$ Stall will command.

Still active conversations between Oilers and Avs. Probably no resolution until after July 1st.

Sens want to add a skilled left handed top six player.

As far as free agents go : they have spoken to Brouwer and Ladd's people. Still early but getting a feel for the ask.

They have also checked in on Stamkos' status and to see if there is interest at all from the players side. They haven't been told no yet but the belief is as many as 15 teams have already contacted them.

At the end of the day they will likely settle in on a bottom six guy with experience. And a 4-5 defenceman. They may make a pitch on Justin Schultz if he goes to market. Remember he was seriously considering Ottawa when entering the league.

New regime change makes it more difficult to get info. Will try to keep posting.

Not a lot to add but a lot of calls have been put out. Sens still in the weeds waiting on Oilers moves.
Stamkos'people are filtering all offers. The only thing I can add to this is that the Sens have offered to donate sign and trade with the Lightning to get the 8 year max instead of the 7. A lot of the teams have done the same. If the Sens get further along in the process they will use Karlsson to help entice him. Alfie has already reached out to him. Needless to say it's a long shot but they are doing their due diligence.

The Stamkos/Lucic contracts really are clogging up the works. If/when Lucic signs with the oilers a deal of reasonable value will be available. Sens really like both RNH and Hall but I get the sense threat may RNH is the target.

I don't want sens to sign him.....But if they did (given his request) that seems like the logical way to go.

Well then...I agree with you. On both fronts actually. I don't think they should sign him, but given his request, I could see that being how things happen...which would frustrate me, because I've seen similar baffling decisions over the past few years.
