Really? I remember them, at the very least, being pretty much consensus #1s at the time of the draft.

Could be wrong

- RickJames77

I think Yakupov was more of a consensus... even if there were some rumors about Edm picking Murray because of their needs on D.

As for RNH... I don't really remember but I think Landeskog was #1 for some people.

But I'm biased as (frank) because I was never a fan of RNH.

Don't feel bad.

RNH has always called you a douchebag.

Hunter interview he mentioned the same person (forget who) who pushed for Soshnikov also did for him...so could be ... It was a huge wtf and who??! when they called his name for me
- senstroll

Personally, I don’t think hunter can possibly be extraordinarily better at scouting than other nhl scouts.

But he can spend more money bribing Russians for information than other teams can.

You look for upside because like you and all of us here, we really don't know these players, the only one besides Matthews that I see some excitement about is the goalie, other than that, I don't know.
- LeafMan

A long wait ahead for him to show up. Hopefully will not pull a Vesey.

Vlad Namestnikov's dad pushed for Soshnikov.

For me also ... maybe I have too much faith in Hunter and that is why I think it will turn out to be a good pick.

To me on the surface besides the first pick, it was not a good draft for the leafs.
- LeafMan

Hunter knows what he is doing. People are complaining about over age prospects - Remember Tyler Johnson was undrafted. Brooks is a scoring machine 120 points, Jack Walker has speed and skill

The second round pick Korshkov - a big left winger that was rated the 7 th best European skater, he is 6'3" and can score. Was one of the stars at the Worlds, great pick. The Swede is another strong skater

With Woll, they stole a 17 year old, 6' 3'' goalie - will be solid, maybe a number 1

Greenway and Middleton - Very big D-men, something Leafs do not have.

Have a little faith - If Hunter just picked from the list that you and I see on the net, there would be no need for him. He has a great scouting team and I am confident, there will be some great talent apart from Matthews from this draft

Its not hard to see why the Habs are screwed...

Petry 5.5mil
Shaw 3.9mil
Desharnais 3.5mil
Plekanec 6mil

not to mention Subban way overpaid.

I'd say RNH and Yakupov were not obviously #1.
- Scabeh

I think they were. They had their detractors but were consensus #1's

The Komarov like player? If he is anything like Komarov than it's okay.

What about the 31st pick?

- LeafMan

Not a fan of Korshkov that early.

I love the idea of grabbing a couple of giant defencemen and hoping at least one develops.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

well.. you could just draft a more "sure thing"..

These picks are very important, you want to eliminate the potential risk factors if possible.
