Would it be the full hit? Wouldn't a trade move the penalty? Pronger and Horton were traded.
- winsix

Those two can ride ltir for their paycheque though. Also, they're both slightly different circumstances

the thing is Chicago just keeps cycling through these players... the magic winning fairy dust get sprinkled on Bollands and shaws and they are players what help you win cups

except when they leave and go to poopty teams its lost for some reason

- senstroll

Yes, the fact that Chicago just keeps replenishing these guys and remains a contending team, leads me to believe that it isn't really these guys making a difference.

Leaf related draft stuff..maybe more info on why the retread picks
- senstroll

To me on the surface besides the first pick, it was not a good draft for the leafs.

One doesn't mean the other can't be true.

I still think if somehow Kirk Muller would be named head coach, no one would complain about it.

- Scabeh

...not after last year. I think they would welcome it. Also, he is a former Hab, so there is that.

Kind of sad they didn't qualify Percy. Thought he still could be a very serviceable NHL d-man. Or at least a trade chip. Guess he's another failed first round pick.

Meh, we'll see. I am not sold on Debrincat. It was a good pick though. No sense picking guaranteed 4th liners.

You should be getting those guys off the scrapheap for cheap.

Draft for home runs.

Good on Chicago then, I hope he does retire, but Hossa is slimy enough to figure a way to get to Robidas Island and continue to collect a paycheque. Piece of shiiit, will never forgive him for Berard.

Every draft leaves fans with that empty feeling.

All the excitement leading up to it, and then the grim reality that these kids are at least 2 years away from playing in the NHL, and 4-6 years away from having any real impact.

It's like opening your presents at Christmas, and just getting IOUs for a bike, a train set and a Stretch Armstrong.

"Merry Christmas, Buddy. I promise you can play with this stuff in 2-6 years. Or maybe not."

I like that they acquired Rychel though! But yeah, I was more excited by the 2015 draft, much more upside I think anyways.

Love those rules. So very true.

Why waste picks on guys who will become players you can always get, most of the time in September, for cheap.

They got the right guys to teach him the trade of being undersized and useful.

first games of last season, lots of fans were very high on Percy ("new top4 dman with great upside!!!!")
Same fans extatic about Sparks as well after his first game.

now almost nobody cares about them.

Look at Carrick potentially going same way; I don't mind him, but he might very probably not be as good as some on here think.
(not saying he's not going to pan out, but lots on here are being unrealistic in tagging him as a 'for sure top4 d-man' on Leafs going forward).

Yeah, I had a shot lined up at the draft party waiting to either celebrate them picking him or to promptly slam down and leave.

It just didn't make much sense. We need skill and he bought just that. Oh well

I see the leafs went with a lot of size - is the general consensus that that was a mistake? It'd be nice to complement all the high end skill players you've acquired over the years with some more size.
