It's weird, I couldn't stand Healy or PJ Stock, but I can't help feeling like Rogers is making an absolute mockery of hockey broadcasting in this country. At first I was thrilled that I had three or four games to choose from on Saturday afternoons, but instead of each game being covered by a local crew that is ultra familiar with the team they are covering, what we get is centralized, impersonal and generic. That's always been the case on Saturdays, where HNIC has its own distinct "personality" but now it's true of every game. Christ, it's like they want us to talk to our families during intermissions.

This isn't an anti Maple Leaf or anti Toronto comment, because they are getting homogenized along with the rest of us, but it's not right that a crew sitting in a studio in Toronto is talking about a game taking place a thousand miles away.

And what will they do if more than 3 Canadian teams make the playoffs? Play the American feed like they did for most of the first three rounds?

We used to get HNIC, regional Sportsnet and the odd TSN game, and each broadcast felt a little bit different. Now we get 82 games of Roger's doing their best impersonation of a fast food restaurant, everything tastes the same and none of it is particularly appetizing.

i dunno.
lots of people seem to dislike/undervalue RNH. Think he's puny or weak.
I liked the game i saw in him last year.
Could be a 1C here.

very seriously doubt that Edm and Van make a trade tho.

If you could get RNH for tanev you do that deal every day of the week ...even though he's an oiler his value can't be that low can it ? As long as he is still a potential 1C it's a no brainer for me

You would expect growing pains, but that's not what this is. It's compression pains - they are trying to streamline everything. Pretty soon they can get rid of everyone and just use a computer programmed to insert the appropriate cliches at the appropriate times like an EA sports game.

So I wonder with all the people being canned are they going to fill those with TSN hockey personalities or just go with a different formula for next year ?

No dice .. Tanev strips pucks off the best forwards in the league, his shot blocking lane and angle work are near elite and he hasn't hit his highest potential. Not to mention cool as ice and a calming presence.

Rnh fought Hamhuis of all people, has matured in the most pathetic losing culture known to major sports, and is injury prone.. I'll take Tanev any day..

This ain't growing pains. They paid a huge price for NHL rights and they are losing their shirts. Revenues are way down. Drastic measures.

I like tanev and could see how some Canuck fans would be apposed but I think you need to look at what you have and what you don't ....plenty of D men who could replace tanev ...who's taking over your 1C once hank leaves ?

Stock and Healy were absolute tools…Hirsch was ok though.

- LordHumungous

I dont' understand why half you cats are routing for Analysts to fail??

I can understand routing for people like Patrick Kane and the Bruins to fail but these people like Strombo and Stock are just talking heads - if you don't like them mute it or go get a beer like the rest of the country.

Now Pierre McGuire is another story....

I keep the D . Dmen are at a premium. Bo and Sutter can do 1&2 C for now until we draft our C next year

Lots of people didn't like hnic a couple of years ago but now I think more people hate Rogers version than the cbc, tsn, Sportsnet versions of before.

I just turn the channel during intermissions and post game. Or mute the TV so I don't have to listen to those clowns. A few I don't mind but it's always the same old thing with the media in general. They keep thinking hey have everyone wrapped around their finger, and maybe their right, but I don't pay much attention anymore. I felt like sheep when I watch that crap.

I can't get past RNH looking like McLovin' on skates. He looks so frail it freaks me out watching him play. I feel like he is going to get creamed at any moment and never get up.

I don't see him as a 1C you build around. I'd keep Tanev.

EDM Overvalues all of their assets. That's why players like RNH & Yak rumors are the groundhog day of the NHL.

Well next year hank would be 1C but in the future it will be up to bo and sutter ...with all the young D you have now and with edler and hamhuis to help out it might be more beneficial to get a guy whose at least played top line minutes instead of hoping one of the others can
