Well to be fair, the coyotes just traded for a player who is retired just to reach the cap floor. I know it sounds silly but that's the new nhl we get to enjoy.

For now this seems like a good signing. Let's wait and see both how he is utilized and how he performs with less talent around him.

Pay changes with time. Its not relative between players that sign in different years since every year the cap goes up. Its a simple concept - in another few years PKs contact will be normal among top pairing D and his obscene pay will be water under the bridge... if he is still producing of course.
