playoff series wins is how define success?

and your last one was 07??

The Leafs are the NHL.. without the Leafs, there would be no NHL, or Sabres..

- Arctic_AARDVARK

Alright you're clearly bored as (frank) and trolling. That is the most ridiculously statement I have ever read. You sit in the corner now and think about how stupid you sound.

Wrong again. Every article I've read says Eichel would go higher. How's the weed up in Toronto? Must be pretty strong
- bluengold12

Marner has much higher potential than Nylander.. Marner might end up being better than Matthews.. He put up McDavid like numbers this year in the CHL.. Reinhartis nowhere near Marner in terms of ceiling.. now, i was being nice when i said Nylander is comparable to Reinhart.. If he played a full season he would have put up more than 42pts.. he would have been closer to Eichels numbers..

Anyone saying the Leafs are better than anyone is delusional or just (frank)ing with you. The Leafs are the worst team in the NHL this century and maybe beyond. Every other franchise has been up at least a little bit here and there.

Less than 40%. That's how many games you have won ALL TIME against the Sabres...

Yeah that's successful.

Your last sentence is key:

who wouldn't want to sign a former 60-goal scorer in his prime

Fact is, he hasn't gotten remotely close to 60 goals throughout the past 3 seasons.

Between that, and the fairly serious injuries he's sustain over the past few years, I just don't know.

Look, if we get him, I'll be excited as much as the next fan.....BUT, I also think it might be best if we let someone else take on this albatross of a cap hit.

Signing Stamkos could also have unforeseen implications for signing Eichel after his ELC and later his RFA period ends.

Here's a scenario:

Eichel develops rapidly and is equal to or surpasses Stamkos by the last year of his ELC. Eichel sees what we're willing to pay ($12M) for that type of player and how could one argue he isn't entitle to that type of payday also? As Eichel becomes RFA, we tender a qualifying $7.5 which is probably the norm for a young superstar type on their first contract. Eichel then gets offersheeted for $10M or more which leaves Buffalo royally F'ed!.....there's no way a team can survive and be successful long term with multiple >$10M contracts on the books.

THIS, the effect and expectations it will establish for our own prospects/rookies is what scares me the most about signing a UFA to this much $$.

- nikel

You've been reading too many Leafs blogs. How about this scenario:

Eichel progresses normally and get a 5-6M for 2 year contract at the end of his ELC. He isn't going to be a 10M player in 3 years, no one is. McDavid won't, Crosby wasn't. The cap will rise, we will figure things out, and we'll be fine with or without 91 on the books.

As far as Stamkos he's a former 60 goal scorer, yes, but more importantly still one of the top scorers in the league. I remember the same being said about OV when he started going down was that he was only a former goal scorer and then he showed them up. Good goal scorers go through ups and downs but even on Stammer's down years he's still scoring 30-40.

Actually the Leafs are the second best team of the century... Buffalo, with no cups you can rank at the bottom tho.

The leafs as it stands right now (before we sign Stamkos) are better than the Sabres.. easily.

I have the Sabres protecting:
ROR
Kane
Ennis
Foligno
Larsson
Girgensons
Deslauries

Bogo
McCabe
Risto

Lehner

I feel there are other defensemen that are better and available than Kulikov plus he's a UFA so I didn't save him.
