What exactly did he dominate, per say? He has nothing to show for it other than a Hart Trophy, which even Jose Theodore won in his career, doesn't qualify him right off the bat for the HOF.
His "domination" was four 40 goal seasons (heck, Tony Amonte had 3 of those and 35 more career points), that's it. 97 was the furthest his team ever went, and was swept, so to truly dominate, you have to have something to show for it other than goals and one MVP trophy, in my opinion. - Hockeytown4life
You must not have been around to see Lindros plays - he was ridiculously dominant when he as on the ice. His most healthy stretch (and he never really played healthy) was over his first 431 games:
431 games, 263 Goals, 337 Assists and 946 P.M.
Lindros was just a monster on the ice and no one in the NHL compared to him with that type of skill, size and physicality.
It's just too bad that he couldn't stay healthy.
But, a lot of people don't want to acknowledge because he was such a douche. |

Hart and Lester in '94-95 and would have won the art ross if goals weren't more valuable than assists (tied for pts with Jagr)
Led the playoffs in scoring in '96-97
First team all-star in 94-95, 2nd team in 95-96
7x NHL allstar in 14 seasons
PPG: 4th in 93-94, 1st in 94-95, 3rd in 95-96, 2nd in 96-97, 7th in 97-98, 6th in 98-99, 9th in 99-00
Led world championships in scoring in 93 (+gold), won WJ gold (twice) - know that probably doesn't mean much but still, silver and gold in olympics
And you compare him to Tony Amonte???? Amonte scored 44 in 82 and 41 in 81
Lindros had 41 in 61, 44 in 65, 47 in 73, 40 in 71, and 29 in 46 (lockout sea) |

I know Toronto fans point out how much money he could make via endorsements in Toronot and how that would over come the tax situation but has anyone mentioned how much more pressure would be on him Toronto? and I'm NOT talking about hockey or winning!! I'm talking about appearances, Charities, events, hospital visits, political events....the list would go on and on!! he would be bugged more in Toronto than any other city to give up his spare time. It's something I would consider in his shoes but thats just me and I'm fairly lazy. - Ross77
There are a ton of celebrities that prefer the limelight over the quiet. Personally, I would prefer the quiet......no one has any idea how Stamkos feels.
Also, there are a ton of Toronto fans that do not think Stamkos is coming here... |

They’re not completely out of it until july 1.
They still have the 8-year contract trump card. - Tumbleweed
A 10mil contract from Detroit gives him more pocket cash(money after taxes) after 7 years than the 8 year 8.5 million deal Tampa offered him. So that's not much of a trump card.
The trump card is their apparent ability to contend next season and the foreseeable future. |

If I'm the Blues I think I extend Shattenkirk for 7 years at $6.5M with a limited no trade clause (let him name a half dozen teams he would accept a trade to). They have the cap space and he's certainly worth it. Screw all these teams that are desperate for a top RD/PP quarterback but won't trade value in return. |

With such a week class this year I think Lindros may get in. Recchi too.
I dont see many others on the list I'd be letting in. |

you are arguing that Chris Osgood, a good but certainly not great starting goalie, was a more impactful player than Eric Lindros, who for a good stretch of years was the most dominant, physical force the league has maybe ever seen? bias aside, that is absolutely batpoop insane. - DoubleDown

so what do you move him at the deadline when you're still in the playoff picture or better yet a legit team that can do damage in the playoffs?
let him walk for nothing?
or sign him for 7 + 7 that he's going to want?
now is the time to move him. - Fountain-San
Better to keep the team that was a couple wins from going to the Cup finals together, then give up pieces for something other than a top return. Besides, perhaps Shattenkirk will look so good on his off-side this year that Blues decide to keep him. Not like they can't afford it. |

Decision to make, yes, but they certainly aren't looking like they'll be in a cap crunch. Blues can easily afford to keep Shattenkirk; but are stacked on RHD right now with him, Petro & Parayko. He is the one it makes the most sense to move; but if a good deal doesn't come along, keeping him and seeing if he can grow into playing on his off side is still a great option. |

Lindros was a freak of nature... a big man who not only played physical (probably to a fault), but he also could skate as fast as anyone, had as hard/accurate a shot as anyone, and could see the ice extremely well, setting up plays for teammates as a result. Yes to HOF for him, IMO. |
