I wouldn't piss on Recchi if he was on fire and will never consider him a Flyer but he is an undeniable HOFer
- KINGKENZO

I'll never understand the vitriol some have for Recchi.

Any "analyst" who actually wrote that should be fired and have all credentials stripped.

I really dont feel like Trayden Schenn for a #9-12 pick that might reach the 60 point mark six years from now

If anything, the NHLPA might have an issue with it. Phoenix has about 11M on their cap that won't be paid out to the players. With new contract rules in place that limit front loading and Cap advantage, this might be the next lockout issue, and a battle over limiting teams from acquiring those kind of deals to reach the cap floor.

On the flip side it helps the players with escrow.

Didn't he have some disparaging remarks about the Flyers after he left the 2nd time?

Saw that the Senators will not QO Chaisson if they can't trade him before the QO deadline. Definitely would be a guy I would be interested in to upgrade the bottom 6 and adss size. Could be another del zotto type. Low risk /high reward on a cheap deal.
- J35Bacher

The problem with him is that he can't really skate that well and isn't particularly physical for his size -- he's really not that good a player in today's NHL

Have you watched him much? There might be some good reasons why that particular player isn't getting qualified

There's been a bunch of stuff that has been posted on here about Recchi. I never heard any of it, until reading it on here. I have zero issues with Recchi and his time here.

I actually still like him, but I know several people both on here and in real life who don't.

I think part of it is that they don't feel he warrants a $2M qualifying offer. But if he were willing to take maybe $1.2M or so, might not be a bad idea. If he doesn't play well, you can move most of it to the AHL.

Yes it is the NHL's own loophole and i'm well aware of why the 35+ rule is there for. Simply saying just like the loophole for front loaded deals was there, this could be something in the future that is addressed in the next CBA.
- MJL

I know what youre saying...I just know the other loopholes were closed to get rid of an advantage that bigger payroll teams had against the small ones. Who would be benefiting from this being closed besides a few grumpy fans?

The League and the NHLPA. What is the goal of player spending? What was the lockouts about?

Since the NHL refused to provide a way to end contracts like Pronger's and Savard's, I doubt they'll take any action against deals like that.

Recchi would be at Ovations club at the Spectrum with Lindros after every home game and was not fan friendly....Bowa was the same way back in the day being rude and not signing autographs

They've already taken action to prevent contracts like Savard's in the future.

I meant to allow contracts to terminate without penalty due to career-ending injuries like Savard's and Pronger's.

Bill, Good piece today about the draft picks (or lack thereof). However, one thing that hasn't been mentioned much, or attention to, is the SPEED factor. As much as I can't stand pooptsburgh, I give Rutherford credit for adding guys that could fly this year. I actually picked SanJose in 6 before the series. After watching the first two games, it was clearly evident the Sharks couldn't stay with the speedy pens. I thought Hagelin was a huge pick up, and he has speed to burn. On the penalty kill, the Sharks had someone on them so fast, they could never set up, or move the puck quick enough.

So with all that being said, and the Flyers on the slower side, what do you think of the guys they drafted in terms of speedy, and what can/should Hexy do address the issue?

Also, will you be making it to the golf tournament tomorrow? I'll be playing again this year.

Despite his appearance, I've had similar issues with Knuble, at least during his initial stint. In order to not have to turn down autograph seekers at Skate Zone, he actually had someone tell them all that he was inside so that he could drive away without having to turn anyone down. He's also not much for conversing with fans. Still like him as a player, though.

We always chastised the Flyers for "trying to win last year's Stanley Cup." I'm glad that Hextall stuck to his plan instead of altering it based on what happened last season.
