I agree, but I think I would hold off for a little bit on doing that. He's still developing and throwing something like that a player can set them back/preoccupy them in a similar way to your concerns about giving Stamkos the C. I don't really know anything about the kid's character or mental toughness though, so I'll leave that to you guys.

You can't sign a player if he doesn't want to be there or if the deal isn't what he's looking for. I have a feeling their offer is in the high 8s due to the fact that they have to sign many high quality young RFAs in the near future (pure conjecture).

Dosnt help when you have guys like Carle and Callahan signed to long term big money contracts. You don't have those to horrid contracts and signing him comes much easier

I assume there would be pressure on the high profile UFAs from the player's union to sign for the highest dollar value. The trickle down effect helps the lower tier players.

but i didnt assimilate "apples to dish for days" to kirby getting assists..

all im saying is if Stamkos comes and we spend that much money on him, he should be put in the absolute best position to be able to play at his highest level.. Maybe making him captain isn't the best thing to do. He's captain in TB and hes probably leaving now.. It's a lot of pressure to wear the C in Toronto..

In the end with him, I think he didnt respect them, and they didnt respect him. Disaster.

There are well documented problems created by Tampa. Stamkos is a starting center on team Canada - he is an elite center. The coach employed him on wing and limited his ice time. As good as Tampa is, that did not sit well with Stamkos. The management team did not handle his contract in the sharpest manner, offered a low-ball contract that was leaked and turned down. Their incompetence was further displayed at the draft when they lost (and it became public) their draft strategy.

there is no need to respect the toronto media. Simply garbage for the most part.
The media never liked Kessel cause he simply didnt care to chat with them....wasnt his style.

Kessel respected some of the media.. but some of the media didnt respect him and they ran with it.. they acted like (frank)ing children and embarrassed themselves.. Kessel didnt do anything wrong during his time in Toronto.
