Holy these #'s must come with the 2017 Presidents Trophy - Garnie
Somebody tweet that to Stamkos. He'd be good for 70 goals, 140 points playing with those guys! |

My guess is Marner will not play more than 9 games.
Too many guys to try and squeeze on this roster IMO - Garnie
But then he goes to the OHL to essentially waste a year.
Unless he is clearly over his head in the NHL, I think he is there all season.

well thats what i expect..
Nylander was on pace for 50pts in an 82game season playing with nobody.. He can hit 60. We know Kadri and JVR can hit those numbers. I believe Marner and Matthews can hit 60 each.. high expectations, but not unrealistic. |

Meh, pretty tough...I think we miss the PO's again....I doubt 1/2 these guys hit those #'s.
I hope you're right |

Well, yeah around then - they'll let him cost the rest of the year to be fresh for the playoffs given the Prez trophy would be locked up by mid-Jan. |

Did any team in the league have five 50 point scorers last year? These expectations are way to high for a team that finished 30th.

I think a lot of these are best case scenarios. I could see some of these results occurring, but all of them occurring would be pretty unlikely I would think. - Leafs43
yeah maybe...
but i think they're all capable.. |

Yes, I agree that any one of them could occur individually (If that player has a good year). It's the idea of all of them happening that seems absurd.

youre delusional..
you made the argument that reinhart is bigger therefor he can handle the rigors of the NHL better, therefor hes the better player..
i wouldnt dare mention skill when comparing those two.. i dont think even you're dumb enough to go down that rabbit hole. - Arctic_AARDVARK
I will.
Youre using marners OHL numbers on a beyond stacked team to compare skill against a guy who scored 20g in his NHL rookie season and shines the brightest with all the skills you cant see at any given time during a game.
Not to mention reinhart being the heart and soul of a WHL club who was near the bottom without him, and surged to the playoffs upon his return.
Oh i will not forget the domination every shift of every game the last time canada won WJC, on a stacked team, he was arguably the best player on that team. Domi scored tap ins and should have bought reinhart dinner for that MVP.
While marner was inconsistent on an underachieving team his last go at the WJC.

Yeah, the team Reinhart was on was much better... Marner still led the team in pts..

I think we're starting to see the nasty side of Leafs fans towards Nylander... 6 months ago he was called the top prospect not playing in the NHL... and now because apparently he didnt backcheck for a few shifts in the AHL playoffs the fans are suggesting he doesnt care.. Poor kid.. he might be our Backstrom - Arctic_AARDVARK
I think and hope we need to cut the kids a lot of slack for 3 seasons or so. Us fans are so used to losing, failure and unfulfilled potential from the "experienced" pros ( phaneuf, Kessel, etc) that some are transposing those feelings onto guys who haven't even played any real NHL hockey yet. We just need to chill out. There will be mistakes and growing pains a plenty. |
