second guessing is just as much a sport to Pratt as is poker...

as I said before the draft, the consensus rankings don't really mean much to the teams that are actually doing the picking. a sort of bench mark maybe, but there are surprises every year and if a team values players differently from those rankings, they aren't going to call up whoever and try to get it straightened out, they are going to pick the player they want, if they are available, when they have the pick.

we saw whichever team make a trade to move up one pick...

I know some folks were pretty disappointed Friday night, but i'm not one of them. I wanted a D from the get go unless one of the Finns dropped to us.

It's hard to be stoked about the draft though when the pick you make top 5 isn't sexy and you don't pick again until 140th. I'm cautiously optimistic about the D they grabbed out of Hamilton too though.

Yes, can't remember his name but one of Edmontons inside reporter said they were taking a D until Columbus went off the board...interesting Pronman ranked us at 6th best in the draft. That's very surprising given our lack of picks and overagers

I would think Pronman is measuring it against what you have to begin with in picks. There's absolutely no way if you're basing it off of a level playing field at the start we did 6th best.

Wouldn't trust Pronman. He has the Leafs as having the number 1 prospect pool in the NHL.
