And I'll repeat what I said the other day in the form of a question. Did any GMs complain about Tim Murray tanking last season and Lamorillo doing the same this year to try to get first overall? I thought the job of GMs is to try to assemble the best possible team and not give away players for nothing or picks in the hopes of finishing last. I know they are taking the long term view, but it does hurt the game when several GMs try to lose every year. - bazz
Vancouver had 2 more wins then the Leafs.. What's their excuse then?

Injuries...Shanahan lost a lot of respect around the league this year for his actions. "we earned this lottery win the hard way." What a scum bag. |

Just say no to overpriced UFA's who want term well past their best before date. - Marwood
The fact that they are buying out Higgins and have Burrows making 4.5 to play 4th/scratch should be a red flag when they are offering free agent contracts, but it wont be. |

I know I am a D!ck but I would totally offer sheet Hoffman.(if he becomes RFA) Kid has a lot of years left and is only getting better. |

Not a fan of offer sheets, you always have to overpay and I don't want to give up multiple picks. |

I was thinking Sutter money for him, Benning better not offer that much - phyllee
Sutter has 194 points in 515 games.
Nielsen has 349 points in 606 games.
Nielsen also seems to be getting better with age. |

I like Nielson but if he really turned down 5.5 then I'm staying away. I would target Boedker instead. |

Well, they changed the draft rules to make tanking less appealing, so probably... |

If he was the missing piece for a cup contending team then I would look at it but I don't think the Canucks are in a position to give up a 1,2,3 round pick. |

Are you forgetting offer sheet is a banned word on Carol's blog? First time poster? If so I won't flag you
Seriously though, there is nothing that piss me off more than any offer sheet. You are essentially over paying a player for the right to give up valuable draft picks. Nothing would be more senseless during a rebuild. |

Burrows is actually making 3 million this season, you are right about the cap hit though.
What are reasonable expectations in terms of point production for a player his age, making that salary?
I'm hoping he can get back to 30 points, if last season can be blamed on that rib injury.

It depends on where he plays. If he on the 4th line with Granlund and Dorsett I don't expect much. If he is with the twins well then it could be promising. |

I don't know how much he will actually get. He scores almost 20 more points a season then Sutter does. He is much older and has been outplaying his previous contract by quite a bit. So wanting 1.7 million more a season then Sutter, I don't think is out of question.
So YES the extension does look good, if that's the way contracts are going. Even if Nielsen takes 5.5 it's still a good extension but if he gets only 5 then not so much. |

all true.
just hoping he does enough that people forget he was considered a buyout option at the end of the season. |

He is probably one of those cases where he will produce as long as he is put in position too. If they are going to put him 4th line and play him 10 a game. I won't expect much. |
