Awesome retreat, hope you and Mrs. Marwood have a fantastic time. - Makita
We go every year to get away from people. It's a pretty magical place. |

"One agent with a marquee stable of players has told Slap Shots that he would not recommend that his clients sign with the Islanders as a result of the bad ice conditions at Barclays during the playoffs that he deemed 'dangerous.' "
Looks like the Isles are gonna lose everybody |

With Edmonton? I wouldn't help them out..It will be nice when they are punished for years of irresponsible "BPA" drafting. They are getting bent over. Sbisa for RNH. - CanuckDon
I would ask for Hall and settle on RNH. |

On the Vanek front, if we miss out on our targeted players. I would totally offer him a 1 year show me contract.. He can still put the puck in the net, we're not making playoffs hopefully and best case scenario we can dump him at the deadline if he pots 15-20 goals... |

"I was not happy and I’m still not happy about that,” Bergevin said. “The league is looking into it.”
Bergevin, in fact, filed a complaint with the league after Benning’s appearance on TSN 1040 AM, during which he was asked about Subban and said: “I think there’s lots of teams who have reached out to him (Bergevin) to find out what it would take to complete a deal of that magnitude. We are one of the teams who have talked to him.
“He crossed the line,” Bergevin said. “I don’t know where the line was crossed but he definitely crossed the line. It can’t happen.”

Thanks Lefty, guess there is a written rule that you can contact teams about players a team may be interested in, but you are not allowed to publicly state that you just did so.
If this enough for GM's to get their panties in a knot and not have dealing with Benning over this, then there is a lot of idiotic, childish GM's out there. |

Exactly, Van and Montreal almost completed a trade after this happened. Everyone knows Bergeron has been shopping Subban for weeks. |

I was really expecting mass hysteria from media and websites about the Canucks draft. Surprisingly everywhere I've read has given the Canucks a B+ grade on the draft |

I've been away, what's this about? What did he do to piss off other GM's? - Makita

I really like the Lockwood, Stukel and Candella picks...Lockwood can fly and he has some slick hands. Stukel had huge improvement in his draft +1 season and appears to have serious skill. local kid as well. Many scouts have indicated that Candella would have gone a lot higher if he didn't miss half the season. He has the 6th highest PPG in the OHL for defensemen.
Not a sexy draft but I think we may get a few players out of it. |

Can't really fault a guy on taking the best D in the draft. (hopefully) |

It was really harmless but against current rules, apparently four teams complained to the league about Bennings comments. |

I for one am hoping Juolevi puts on 30+ pounds and learns to hit real hard. Good hockey sense and big hits |

wow. Neilsen turned down $5.5MM per season from the Islanders...so much for a value signing. It will take somewhere between $6-$6.5MM |

And I'll repeat what I said the other day in the form of a question. Did any GMs complain about Tim Murray tanking last season and Lamorillo doing the same this year to try to get first overall? I thought the job of GMs is to try to assemble the best possible team and not give away players for nothing or picks in the hopes of finishing last. I know they are taking the long term view, but it does hurt the game when several GMs try to lose every year. |

I have heard some rumblings that agents have been telling their player not to sign with the islanders due to ice conditions in their building....could be because of this. |

Definitely some intriguing picks this year. Lockwood can flat out skate and pulls off some nice moves. Stuckel once he recovered from his injury fully lit it up. And yeah Candella is the one I was really interested in, hopefully turns out to be a 2nd pairing guy, has offensive upside |

I'm not saying I hope he gets to their level of physical game, I know that's unrealistic, but the kid is 6'3" and is young enough to keep growing/learning so why couldn't he add more to his game? |

He is the type of player that doesn't need to be overly physical as he outsmarts his opponents. Players can't hit him as he transitions the puck too quickly. For sure he will likely be more physical as he matures physically. He is very skinny. 6'3 and 185 pounds. He will hopefully be 205 when he fills out. |
