Yeah, maybe you're right, but I don't like the salary they gave O'Reilly, and Kane is well....Kane.

But the Kulikov and Lehner trades are brutal, no one can convince me otherwise.

- James_Tanner

Brutal? They gave up a 3rd to move up 5 spots and to upgrade Kulikov from Pysyk.

The yotes burned a 2nd, to move up 4 spots and waste 7.5 against the cap. Way to show a city that doesn't care for hockey how much you're trying to win.

Your opinions are so disillusioned its crazy.

Just hearing some big news on Stamkos.. My sources have informed me that he's seriously considering retiring from the NHL to go to Europe and take up professional darts! He's been quietly taking lessons the past few Summers with Phil "The Power" Taylor and Adrian Lewis to help get his dart career underway. Only thing left is he has to gain about 70 Ibs to transform himself into the portly athletic dart player physique to earn more respect from his dart colleagues. ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTYYYYY!

Leafs, Oilers and Coyotes all have great drafts.

MINUS: Huge MINUS to Hockey Twitter for being so negative, sour, know-it-all, condescending and snarky as to be nearly unbearable.

I think a Arizona/Chicago trade makes sense, if theyreally are shopping crawford. Would you trade CC for domingue and perlini/dvorak? Would the owners agree to have Smith as a backup with that contract?

Lars Eller is (frank)ing terrible. He is quite possibly the stupidest player to ever don an NHL sweater. He has no instinct in either zone and the worst thing is that he thinks he's so much better than he really is. Maybe Shaw sucks too. I'm not like most fans or bloggers, I don't pretend to know anything about players on other teams. But whatever Shaw is, it doesn't change the fact that Eller sucks.

It's a joke when people think Burke will eventually ruin the Flames. Burke does not dictate player moves and verbally even said, it's Treliving that calls the shots. The way the team is built now, that was all Treliving. The only way Burke interjects is if things go drastically south, which I highly doubt. People are horribly misguided because Burke is vocal and likes to talk about the Flames. No one ever mentions Nicholson of the Oilers. So by all accounts, did he build the Oilers team as it is, did he sign, pick or trade any of the players they have. No, it's all Chiarelli, yet no one ever mentions that Nicholson is ruining this team or not making enough moves to find a defenseman cause he stays behind the scene. Burke loves to be around the action but in no way calls the shots, it's NOT his job.

Stop thinking Burke pulls all the strings people, it's Treliving's team!!

What a bunch of factually inacurate statments

Let's start with the most obvious two.

-Murray slaughtered the trade for O'Riley. He was an all star, two way center who brings every single type of intangible to a team that you can think of. We gave up a bunch of unknowns and also got back McGinn who had a pretty good season and netted us a 3rd next year.
- Second of all giving up a 3rd for Vesey was a brilliant move that was approved by everyone but you. We had four of the and couldn't sign them all. Vesey has strong connects here and it was well worth the shot to sign an elite player like him giving up a 3rd.
- The Kulikov trade, you can spout all your analytical crap to me but the way I look at it Pysyk wasn't going to pass Risto or Bogosian on the depth chart anyway, we had a hole on the left side and picked up a defensive defenceman who can play quality minutes. We also got a 1st round pick value in the 2nd round with Asplund in moving up. I don't love the extra 3 mill we took on in cap but we have a lot and can shed some easily.

That 7.5 helps them get to the floor and they dont have to physically pay any of that 7.5, so that's a contract they want to take on. It's actually a genius move, and they moved up 4 spots in the first, while doing so, to grab a dman in Chychrun who shouldn't have been available still. That's a win-win for the Yotes.

And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead is sort of a hardcore-ish band that put out one good album of weirdly catchy aggressive music called Source Tags and Codes. It's from 2002 and makes my all-time list.

Ryan was only an allstar because every team has to be represented.
And the 3rd for Vesey is only good for FAIR value, IF Jimmy signs.
Can't know how good that trade is until they both get a good chance to show what they got on their new teams. Probably won't be a win either way as they're both meh anyways.

I get the cap floor part, but I don't get the 'not actually having to pay ' part .

Why not ?

While I think people over rate Ryan O'Reilly, he deserved his All star nom. He was fantastic in the first half, but slowed down due to too many minutes later in the year

For Datsyuk? He retired from the Nhl. He doesn't get paid a lick. Only cap hit remains because he was 35+ when he signed.

Still wasn't necessary to pay the price they did to move up.
