We are well aware that Buffalo "tanked" and we owned it. We were reminded quite often how it was an embarrassment to the League and the game itself. We were rewarded by the powers that be with the worst schedule in the history of hockey. On the other hand when Toronto "tanked" it was considered a great use of unwanted assets and it would be a great thing for the "Center of the Hockey Universe". I think it is wonderful that we have real owners that are invested and involved in their team unlike the the corporate entity that doesn't really care about winning and losing, just about bottom line profit margins.
I sure hope all the fans from Toronto who come to Buffalo to get a sniff of NHL Hockey appreciate the proximity of our fine city and all we have to offer, while your seats are all taken by Corporations using tickets to sell their business. |

The Steven Stamkos brand has been trending in Buffalo for the past six months and on Saturday, the love affair between the number one free agent in NHL history and the Sabres intensified ten fold when Sabres GM Tim Murray let it be known to the hockey world that he is prepared to land "the big fish" in free agency.
You do realise that what you describe here isn't a "love affair", it's called stalking... it's quite illegal. |

Here's what was posted by a non-homer today on hockeybuzz, by JT!
"MINUS: The Sabres GM Tim Murray. What is this guy thinking? Burns a third on Vesey, last year he burned a first on Lehner, overpaid for Ryan O'Reilly and Evander Kane and now makes the ridiculous mistake of trading Pysyk for Kulikov.
I hope I'm wrong cause Buffalo is a team I like to cheer for, but Murray seems to be a terrible GM.
Florida, on the other hand, already has a great core of a team and now they have Pysyk and Keith Yandle on the blueline, two great pickups. I was hoping Yandle would come back to Arizona, but good for him on the sweet contract." |

Where do I start?
If Stamkos is leaving Tampa and coming home is key, why would he take a half baked option of Buffalo? Detroit is almost as close. Toronto is home

Buffalo is 2.5 hour drive to Markham Ontario.(stamkos's home)
Detroit is 4 hour drive to Markham.
So ya I'd say Detroit is ALMOST as close to home as Buffalo is. Key word the guy said ALMOST |

Why does Garth do this to you guys? We (Sabres fans included) all know Stamkos isn't signing in Buffalo
Does he have that disease from the movie "Memento", where his brain is wiped clean every few minutes? |

That's assuming no traffic on the route . Also a 4-5 hour round trip drive to home isn't close. Or convenient. Or ideal. |

If the rumours are true and Buffalo is gonna offer stamkos 12milliom a year sabres fans should hope he signs elsewhere. |

Before you factor in border crossings.
Better to eliminate that IMO |

If I had to guess, it is you that doesn't travel much, I know what the city that I live in has to offer. The real people of Buffalo are a hearty four seasons people, for the most part, we find as much to do to have fun in Winter as we do in Summer.
Oh by the way, my city smells like Cherrios and Lucky Charms. |

It just doesn't make sense.. so he practises with team and works out on an off day. Drive 2/2.5 hours home. Then 2/2.5 back to buffalo than night for practise or game for the next day. How is that desirable? That's down right absurd and pointless. |
