Ugh.
Anyone still reserving seats for Stanley's Travelling Rookie Show?
Q is all over both signings. And while I have zero use for Mash, I am fine with Rozy as 6-7. - John Jaeckel

It's official now:
http://blackhawks.nhl.com...62b7c9af7f21362dd40ee0b38
This is an extremely questionable start to free agency (even though it starts tomorrow).
Extremely valuable cap space is being used up on players that will contribute nothing useful to the team next season. Rozy again? Really? - TommyHawk
Both at 1 yr and $575,000 |

Rozy is hot garbage as a 6-7 especially if the Campbell signing happens.
What need would there be for Rozy? Does that mean Gustaffson and Svedberg are playing in the AHL this year?
And Mashinter resigning just makes me want to (frank)ing |

Can't wait to see Mash Pertaters getting 6 minutes of ice time over guys who are more skilled, more deserving, and more capable. Panik, get ready for the press box, Mashinter is back! - roots_gamble

My guess is no. It probably means Keith, Seabs, Hammer, Campbell, Kempny, TVR and Rosy are the 7 dmen on roster at start of season.
Mash, to me, is just someone who can play on line four versus the more physical teams. I honestly expect the rookies to play more often than Mash.

Not surprising and easy to believe. They came close to pulling the trigger on him at the TDL, before Ladd heated up. Nice because he's also versatile. Good character guy. - John Jaeckel
It would especially make sense if they move Anisimov, which I've totally come around on. Given how the salary cap has unfolded the past few years, there are definitely some guys on the roster who are overpaid in the current market and he's one of them. I really like him and his game but I'd like it more about about $1m less per year. |

Both at 1 yr and $575,000 - Marlowe
That means they can both be sent down to Rockford with no cap hit. |

WTF was the rush to sign Mashinter now ?
They could have waited till August no one was going to sign that bum. WTF is going on ? I'd have to say Q should be put on notice this season , the Hawks have overcome his stubbornness with pure talent before , this past post season they did not , I can not believe Bowman gave into this one. 575k is a lot the day before UFA starts . Looks like the hawks just crushed the blogs dreams by staying home and signing their own...
I wonder if Rosy got $600,000 and NO 200,000 performance bonus?
You have to wonder if it was a $5,000 bump in salary or the chance to fill the vacant spot on the first line that had Mashinter forgo unrestricetd free agency?
I am so happy that June 1st is almost here, because I don't know how many more posts suggesting the hawks get some 3mil to 4 mil UFA... |

But he cant !!!!!!
Thats the problem ,
He never hits anyone
He never attacks anyone (Keeping the other team honest )
He almost never touches the puck
I wish he could be a useful 4th liner but he just isnt .

Move Panarin to Toews' line and slot Staal in on AA/Kane line. Let Staal take faceoffs? - Marlowe

I'm surprised they signed Mashinter for only $575k. I thought he'd get $2M or so. He should be given a chance at 1LW. He has a lot of skill and can provide a fierce physical presence. I see him as a Lucic-lite. |

I'm not well versed in now NHL contracts work so forgive me if the following is stupid.
Could the Mashinter signing simply be the Hawks retaining him to be the captain in Rockford? They can keep him down there without having any cap hit, right? Or is that wishful thinking since Q loves him... |

Not to mention, he doesn't play! Q starts him and ends up giving him 5-7 minutes off ice time a game! Then Q can't even roll out his fourth line and it becomes a three-line game! |

The only times Mash will be in the lineup is against a Blues team with Reeves in the line up and other teams that have similar type players. It is really not a bad idea to at least have him on the roster, he is not going to matter at 500K to the cap |

Actually I'm wrong. Rosival is a 35+ contract. the 600k counts. They can sen him to Rockford and it becomes a $500K cap hit.
