...And for all on here who want to take John out to be flogged when rumor doesn't turn out....
We just had one of the biggest trades in years happen and Montreal was involved but there wasn't one peep I heard that Weber was going anywhere. - Al
Vancouver GM did get popped for tampering for dropping that he and MTL had discussions about Subban. But to your point Weber's name didn't pop anywhere |

I think the very most important thing to Campbell is money, period. I think being over paid 20 or so mil over his career has skewed his perception. - Mr Ricochet
Not so fast - Campbell flat out says says Chicago is first choice and he just wants to okay somewhere he knows he will be happy. Money will not determine where he goes.

Yep...every damn player on this team has, except for Hammer and his contract was essentially negotiated by Doug Wilson. - kwolf68
No it wasn't. Doug Wilson offer sheeted him in 2010, 4 year deal. |

From Our Guy Al :
Stan Bowman has a little over 32 hours before the Anisimov NMC kicks in and after 2 yrs. turns into a limited NTC.... Action required?? - mrpaulish
Well, I'll tell you guys, I think Al is on to something here. I'm not sure dealing Anisimov is the only option, but it's really looking more and more like Bowman needs to make a major move and re-shuffle the deck somehow, or you can pretty much not expect much, or anything, in the way of improvement this year.
Now that said, there is always the POSSIBILITY that he can catch lightning in a bottle in the free agency bargain bin.
But . . . it doesn't look good. Other teams in the Hawks division are making big moves already.
THE LEDGER right now looks as follows:
OUT
TT
Shaw
Ladd
Weise
Fleischmann
Rozy
IN
Kempny
All this talk about two kids still wearing their mortar boards from college graduation (who project likely as more secondary players anyway), Baun, Kero, and McNeill?
Better start lighting candles.
I will repeat what I have all summer: they need to look at what they can move and then backfill to some degree while saving money to use on glaring holes from last year. Which is why moving Kruger probably isn't an answer.
Failing that, I hope Jiri Hudler gets everyone's engines revving. |

@georgerichards Although I said it sounded like Brian Campbell was headed back to the #Blackhawks, now hearing Dallas. Again, we'll see. #nhlStars - walleyeb1
Richards is the reporter in Miami? The article from the Chicago Tribune came out after the tweet you quoted and has direct quotes from Campbell. Does that mean he signs here? I don't know - Hawks have to want him - l but I like that it is his first choice. |

I bet the fans will storm the Forum! or Bell Centre! - jb3333
This......... Somehow controversy is always around this guy who won't shut up. Scary when you have 9.5 per into him.

That is a home town discount. Sorry but that is a player who wants to stay and win and gets what a huge cap hit north of 10 mil does. I don't want to hear toews or Kane complain about poopty line mates. Sack up boys. Stamkos just did what you should've done. Now his team has an extra 2-3 mil to spend elsewhere. That AVV flat out sucks. The Lightinging are going to be really good for a while.
No one kid themselves. A healthy Stamkos is a top 10 NHL player. - bhawks2241
Stamkos isn't as good as Kane or Toews and the if healthy part is an issue.
TB isn't Chicago my man...Not 21,000+ there every night.

Disagree. TSN had a calculator today looking at the bottom line take home pay for Stamkos and he'd have to make $11.5 mil annually from Buffalo or Detroit to take home more than the deal he signed with Tampa. Yzerman always knew his offer would be hard to beat because he could offer longer term and less taxes (being in FLA with no income tax). - hankscorpio
This is not true, you also have to consider Stamkos gets an extra year on his deal from Tampa by extending with them so its no apples to apples money as his figure is spread out over more years
Stamkos' current deal will give him net take home pay of $5,171,400 per year, for 8 years. $41,371,200 total
If you eliminate that 8th year to make it apples to apples income per year for the other teams, his total net take home would be 36,199,800 over 7 years
These are what each team could offer at $10.5 per, and what he would take home, all more than Tampa's offer over that same 7 year span

Bowman can dig his heels in and get married to AA-Essentially in a contract sense that will be happening if not dealt. Or he can deal a player that should be in demand and not have to take back a penny.

But then you just create a hole at 2C. I'm not certain at all that they deal him. Unless a Brad Richards signing is in place.

Campbell's agent will be pumping the tires on that rumor as much as possible over the next couple of days...Makes sense too because of Lindy Ruff connection.
I don't see how Dallas can afford to pay Campbell considerably more unless they shed salary.

Sorry, nobody was offering T+K more than $10.5. By the time they would have hit UFA, the projections on the future cap were already falling.
They cleared the highest cap hits in league, both of them, by a full $1 mil, on the SAME team. Explain to me how they honestly felt they were giving Chicago ANY kind of discount? Because their agent said so? While running to the bank with twin $525k commissions under each arm? - hawkeytalkman
My guess is that a team would have paid more, which is my opinion, opposite yours. Toews/Kane bring hardware (Stanley Cups, Conn Smythe) and continued to bring hardware after the deals. You pay for what you get. I'd take the $10.5M and lock them up then let them test FA. My guess is they can get more elsewhere. |
