Absolutely I am fine with the K/T contracts (though I'd be better with the same 9.5, who wouldn't be?). But they were younger than Seabrook and still have many prime years ahead of them. They will earn their contracts for sure I just don't think Seabrook will. I could be wrong and hope that I am because nothing would make me happier than to see 7 kill it for the next 8 seasons. - tyweb69
I understand the concern with Seabrook....A dman can play at high level in his mid 30's most forwards see a significant dropoff in production in their early 30's...If that makes you feel any better....

Clelearing space? Hall was only making $6 mil AAV for the next 4 years. Might clear space for Lucic, but not both. - BearsnHawks
They already had cap space to sign Lucic. They likely wanted extra space in the deal to get Demers and give them some ability to sign another UFA if they want. |

I thought there was no way they would trade Hall for Seabs. I actually think that could have been a real possibility. I know we did not have anyone to replace seabs but we have no one to be a 1LW either and hall is going to be just as good in 4 years as he is now. Seabs? No and he will be under contract for 4 more years. - kmw4631
While I may over value Seabs as a Hawks fan-- and don't want to trade him-- I would HAVE to look hard if they had offered Hall for Seabrook--
But they didn't-- and any day of the week I take Seabs over Larsson--- even though he is younger--
I'm just happy that they didn't do a Hall for Shattenkirk deal-- |

That billionaire Pagula really wants to win and will spend to do so. Looking at that O'Rielly contract makes me think BUF will offer more than anyone else for Stamkos. - Mr Ricochet
I posted on Twitter the odds to sign Stamkos....Buffalo is 8/1...You may want to take a taste. |

First trade in quite a while that qualifies as a true blockbuster. |

Makes Kruger's deal look like a bargain - Sundevil
Hertl is a very important player for the Sharks-similar to Kruger in that regard.
When he got injured the Pens were in the driver's seat.

100% blockbuster, but what would that do for Montreal?
It's just swapping out two strong Defensemen.
They need a natural goal scorer. |

If this trade is true, then Nashville would have done 2 blockbuster trades in less than a year: Weber for Subban and Jones for Johansen. Unless the Weber referred to is Mike Weber or Yannick Weber! |

50.9% of Webers contract has already been paid in the first 4 years of a 14 year deal
Nashville will get gouged if Weber retires early |

How so? I think in the long run, Edmonton will be better having Larsson than they would Hall. The Oilers had a log jam of young Forwards. Nothing on the blueline. Someone had to go. They can build around McDavid--who looks like he could live up to the "generational talent" tag.
Now they have Larsson and Lucic, two guys that can lead a group of young guys that has had no direction for the past number of years. - Hank3Henshaw
I'm leaning your way and Chiarelli isn't done. |

Again...what does Montreal get out of this trade? They need a goal scorer(s)
Why move PK for Weber. Doesn't make sense to me. |

I'm not advocating trading him but could you imagine the haul Stan would get for number 7 right now? |

Weber brings more goal scoring from the blueline than Subban.
Could also be about $$. Even though both are on monster contracts, Weber is still due $20M this year and next, $13M for Subban. Nashville has never been a cap team, so maybe dollars factor into it some for them. |

I think he's pretty good, but I would much rather have PK. Hands down.
Everyone like Weber because he has a hard shot. Haha. |

The Subban for Weber trade makes a lot of sense. Nashville is getting more offensive firepower. Subban is more of an offensive D man than Weber and they've already traded Jones for Johannsen. |
