Good point. Conversely, Kruger plays at a higher speed. AA isn't exactly a boat anchor, but it's real hard to say one way or the other how 72 and 88 will increase or fall off unless they tried it for half a season.

Q never tries anything for half a season and there in lies the problem.

I could roll with Boll on the fourth line. Crystal Lake kid.
- John Jaeckel

Nasty SOB. Send em rundblad whats his cap hit?

Jones signed 6 years at 5.4 in columbus

Edit: Boll is 1.7 cap hit. Would think that the hawks would want at least 700k of that retained

Point taken. Your age or mine isn't really the issue here, so i apologize for that. i just remember the days without cups. So to say they were just doing their jobs by winning them, I found a little greedy, I guess. i do remember the 90s and 00s. Gilmour was a free agent and there was no cap at the time. He was paid because teams couldn't count on as many quality guys coming on the market because good teams couldn't afford to pay them.
is Seabrook on the decline? Maybe. I think he was tired/hurt last year. He was an integral part of 3 cups and got paid for it. I don't think Stan should be taken to task for that. Agree to disagree.

- Jocelyn26

Completely understand your point as well. I certainly do not think Seabrook is on the decline yet but I do think that contract could look ugly sooner than later. Al's point has been look at what these guys have accomplished they should be getting paid and I just don't agree with that. I think it should be more like here's what I think you will accomplish and hence your worth. Past performance is just that.

Seth Jones' six-year extension with #CBJ carries a $5.4M AAV.
- jt19

Hopefully this is not another Tyler Myers contract!! But on the flip side you don't want a Subban situation either. This is one of those we'll find out in a couple of years if this is a good contract or not. If I had to bet i would say it's a good deal for the CBJ.

Looks like Boll is on the repeat offender program for questionable hits. Dont know how Q would tolerate that.

Fair enough. Maybe Stan went on a week long vacation. He will come back after the 4th to go bargain shopping

I am pretty confident that Jones will not end up being a Myers situation. Kid IMO is much more rounded than Myers was at their present times. I think Jones will be a great defensive player for CBJ for years to come.

Boll is on the down side of his career but he can skate hit and fight still not as worn down as carcillo when he got here. Jared boll for runbald or a prospect get it done stan.

Jones is terrific and is every bit as good as a D-Man as Panarin is as a forward, plays a tougher position and is younger and we're talking of Panarin getting 6-7 million a year? 5.4 Jones is a solid take and in 2 years will be a monster bargain.

Anyone have any guesses where some guys will go in this years Free Agent Frenzy?

Stamkos: I think he's staying in Tampa or going to either Toronto or budding powerhouse, Buffalo

Shattenkirk: Team in the East

Martin: Florida would be cool; they can use a guy who throws the body around

Weise: Not sure who all the 10 teams are that are interested, but I think Montreal will pick him up again. He was a fan-favorite there and produced well for the Habs. Wherever he goes, I'll be rooting for him.

Lucic: I thought it was a weird fit with Edmonton, but the more I think about it, the more I think he'll be signing there and be the physical/skilled Forward that will captain that young corp of players who has had no direction for the past number of years

But again why based on accomplishments? I really don't care what the player did I only care about what they are able to do moving forward. 3 cups (as you mentioned for Seabrook) should have NO bearings on a contract negotiation. Yeah that's great, thank you for doing your job, now what are you going to produce the next x amount of years?
- tyweb69

The way value is determined it is by recent comparable contracts of similar players, but what players have accomplished and what they are projected to accomplish is part of the mix.

If you agree Getzlaf/Perry are a comparable duo as far as importance to their team then you shouldn't have much issue with the $$$ Kane/Toews received-Age which is often overlooked when comparing players on this thread-Is also a big factor and the Hawks duo is younger.

From Mirtle:

Blue Jackets have told teams they're willing to retain salary in order to dump guys. Desperate to shed money. Hartnell, Tyutin, Boll etc.

Just read Matt Martin & his agent are looking for over 3 million a year, so those you who thought he was coming from a bargain bin, think again...

Good call. Forgot about Backes and Brouwer.

It's not stellar either. Wiz could get 30 points a season playing with those two.
- John Jaeckel

That's fair, but he's not paid like he's stellar either.

Any rumblings on Brouwer's camp and his asking price? Was really impressed with his playoff and could definitely find a place in our lineup in the Top 6.

Yes... Possible and I think likely on 2 of 3.
