23 yrs. old and there shouldn't be much need to GET any more motivated.
If Forsberg makes 6 mil Kucherov a far better all around player may start at 7 million asking price.
Good thing Stamkos is signing in....somewhere else.... - wiz1901
Besides the eye test Forseberg has excellent Corsi numbers the last 2 years. Surprised you're not a fan....... I think this was a very good signing for NSH both in term and dollar for the 22 yr old. Comparable salaries: http://www.generalfanager...comparables?contract=4858
Kid reminds me a lot of a younger Sharp, sniper, but better hands and way farther along at his age than Sharpy.
Latta has stood out in the few games I have seen him play. Would definately be an upgrade over "mash mess" - ikeane
I liked him when he was in Milwaukee w/ the admirals, though I can't say I followed him as much w/ the caps... Def was an energy guy who wasn't afraid to throw down. Don't think he ever produced much in the NHL offensively though
And more importantly (for the Blackhawks FO + Fans), what do those two contracts mean for Artemi Panarin? He outproduced both players last year as a rookie.... - EnzoD
I think Pan look for 6 mil per with term. IF he wants to be a Hawk. Kid doesn't know the language that well but he sure knows how to talk about the Hawks' chronic cap problems.
You have to figure on the open market he's gonna make at least that....I don't see the math working unless some other people get subtracted. - kwolf68
The math says if Pan is a Hawk in 2017/18 he's replaces and existing core piece. No other way unless an AA and Kruger go with no salary coming back.
Trade him for a haul of picks + prospects today or less of a haul next year or hope he's offer sheeted next year at 6 mil and take the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounders.

Wait, he gets Forsberg money off two years in the league?
Ben Smith is a 27 yr old UFA............. - Mr Ricochet
Was referring more to his role with the Hawks. Guy who can PK, play center, and slide up the bottom 2 lines. And with Shaw, his versatility, grit and scoring ability. Hoping he could be a combination of those two individuals.
He is a nasty little bugger. Will use his stick to create space. Kid has played his whole career on NA ice. The OHL isn't a league for shrinking violets. He already has put up 2 50 goals seasons in that league. - TTtime
DeBrincat says he's apower forward, an dbelive he doesn't play small.
He takes the puck away from you, not just in front, where evr he can get close to you.
Its sort of like he closed that little "talking space" you have in a conversation, and before you know it, you pocket is picked.
Still, like Johnny hockey, Conor Sheary, Tyler Johnson you want to see himdo it the highest level, before you wet your pants.

IIRC Smith for the most part is a winger. .....Yea, again, IIRC didn't he slide up as the Hawks were down 3-0 in the series with VAN and score a hattrick to keep the series alive?
but he plays center, same with Ship. They need a LW - so out of all the names thrown out, Vesey is the only one who actually plays the position and would not be a stretch to play 1/2 LW ala McGinn - Sundevil
Trade AA for a 4D and sign Shipyachev or Colborne at a lower AAV? I would rather have StanBo bargain bin shopping so that he can sign extend Panarin this summer. I just dont see how any AAV over $1mil is added without trading another large cap hit....

If I'm Stan, I try to get him at 8 years for $5 mil. If he wants a shorter deal with a larger AAV, try $6 x 6. Can't let this kid go if you want a real shot at a championship in the near future.
Andrew Shaw's six-year deal with #habs is worth $23.4M -- a $3.9M AAV - mrpaulish
Good for Shaw--- wish him the best as a Hab---
He deserves to get paid-- too bad it wasn't with the Hawks
How much of that 6 years will be effective / able to play they way he does--
Anyone think the Hawks would have offered that term knowing what they know about his health record and any guesses on what they wanted to offer? 3.5M x 3?
