Meh. drafting 17-18 year old isn't an exact science. Some reach their peak at that age. some develop.

Agreed. Also, the Hawks ended up making the same number of picks as the Leafs did this year. No 1st rounder of course but still good asset management, imo.

Ryan Stanton NOT qualified by WSH. Racking up quite the list of one time young Blackhawk D saviors. Stan has evaluated the D talent well, i'd say.

It seems like Connor Carrick was NOT qualified by Toronto.. very surprising. I think Carrick will be a good pro. 22 years old. RHD (which hawks need), had 17 pts in 15 AHL playoff games, high potential and upside. Would love Stan to take a try with him. Anyone know anything more about Carrick?

Again. Leddy was moved to keep Oduya. And the Hawks won a Cup because of that move. Hawks were never going to pay him more then Keith and Hjalmarsson.

So this may be a little too tin foil hat but I haven't heard much discussion of stans comments after the draft. He said, you will find out our plan soon, or something close to that. Any chance he new about ship or possibly Hawks lawyers/staff found the previously elusive loophole? His answer made me think he knew something we didn't and he was pretty proud of himself. like I said maybe looking into it but seems possible

Florida didn't qualify Quinton Howden, he could be a decent 4th line PK forward somewhere.
