Debrincat was being talked about on NHL radio this morning. Scouts and speculators were saying he has top 6 potential. "Not big but Panarin-like" were the words that stood out to me the most. Can't wait to see what this kid has to offer in the next two years or so.
- 93Joe

He is a nasty little bugger. Will use his stick to create space. Kid has played his whole career on NA ice. The OHL isn't a league for shrinking violets. He already has put up 2 50 goals seasons in that league.

#SJSharks have issued qualifying offers to Hertl, Nieto, DeMelo, Carpenter. Jeremy Morin, F acquired from Toronto with Reimer, not qualified

The door is open Stan....time to bring Jeremy home (again)!

Some of the guys who Bowman has drafted and can't play in the NHL can start their own team in Europe...There are quite a few.

Pretty please?

Couple pf things and some more info.

I HIGHLY DOUBT the Hawks will enter into any kind of bidding war for Campbell—on any scale—so if he wants to go to Dallas for another $500K per, he will. My opinion based on what I've heard (and what I know—they can't afford a bidding war over a non-essential player).

What I heard this afternoon:

Hawks are apparently still talking to Ladd, but failing that will reach out to McGinn. However, the Hawks—barring a trade of a bigger salary—will wait in free agency until the stupid dollars are spent.

Shipachyov situation is very unclear. If he is freed up to come over, Hawks will pursue.

At present, the Hawks plan to contact Vesey's agent if he hits UFA.

Apparently still talking to NJ.

He will be a RFA at the end of this season. He won't be re-signed again after this season I would hope. pray. make a sacrifice to ensure.

If the Hawks had two of his linemates it might make it easier to sign him. The Hawks should also look at signing Evgenii Dadonov.

Meant the expansion draft for the league of ex-Hawks players who can't play in the NFL Al was saying could be formed and may built around Morin. But I agree and will donate to sacrifices not involving animals or humans.

Ur right...But I read the other day there is basically no one left that Bowman has drafted, except for this draft.

At the time of the salary puke Morin was supposed the shiny star of the acquisitions.

Probably the two best moves the Hawks should do given their cap situation.

Leafs have 20 mins to qualify C. Carrick, Leivo, Percy & Corrado. Qualified Sparks (tbh thats a shock) and Marincin.

If these guys don't get qualified Stan should jump all over one of them.

This stuff with Dallas and Campbell is more connecting the dots with Lindy Ruff...Unless there is a new math I don't know about they have cap issues too and two goalies that tie up about $10.4 mill in cap space and neither are tradeable, without retaining salary.

As far as Campbell-Ladd....I don't see how they can sign Ladd unless they trade AA.

Campbell was a 6th round pick and he has made almost $60 million in his career.
He's 37 years olds and he would be the one to take haircut to come back and play here. Campbell did a lot of charity work in Chicago and his wife is from here.
If the Hawks could sign him for 2 years at $2.5 million per I would do it....From what I hear he can still skate.

Landing one of those two would be huge.

Just to clarify JJ, hope I'm not coming off as a pain in the ass, but did you mean they are failing to reach out to McGinn or failing with Ladd??

What good will Corey Crawford do the team if Alex Debrincat and Nick Schmaltz are the top 6 LWs in 17/18? Probably not much. If Panarin isnt retained, Stan might as well blow it after this year, IMO. The priority this summer should be to get a long term extension for Panarin before he puts up another 65+ points this year. As of today, StanBo might be able to get him at $5.5mil AAV but if he comes close to matches his rookie year production, he will get more than Forsberg got today.
- EnzoD

Honestly, guys like Debrincat and Schmaltz will not be the top six. We will have our two ten million dollar men, Hossa, Panarin, and AA. Maybe the best top five in the league. I think SB wll find a LW to play this year with them.

So it is your opinion that the FO should try to shop for a starting goalie during expansion? Good luck with that. I actually think goalie deals are overwith now, due to planning for expansion, except for miscellaneous backup spots, and there will be no market for starters - especially ones with big salaries.

That leaves you with the likes of Bernier, Pavelec, Lethonen, Niemi, who all make big coin, and the vast sea of washed up older guys and young unproven guys to choose from. And please.....Darling is a guy with serious potential, but still less than forty NHL games under his belt. Hawks won't do him any favors to improve his value, and he is a UFA after this season that will be chasing dollars.

The real priority should be actually DEVELOPING talent. Too much time and hype wasted on TT, and apparently, Q thinks no one in Rockford was worth calling up for a REAL look. Find a diamond or two there and you can ride ELCs for a while until the cap catches up.

Al - how huge would it be to have a legit skate it into the zone option again from the blue line? Seems to me since Campbell and Leddy's departures it has been easier for teams to clog the neutral zone and stop the stretch passes without that backline puck handling.

Why? Neither are NHL players. Both couldn't crack the vaunted Leafs defense last year.

I'm starting to get a good feeling about this. Hawks do have a little money to throw around. Not Ladd money. But enough for maybe two of Campbell, Shipachyov, etc.

Assume they start with their current roster for 2016/17:
Toews, Kane, Hossa, AA, Krug, Panarin, Desi, Panik, Lundberg.
Add Schwartz and Motte (or a different Rockford guy).
That's 11 Forwards.

Keith, Seabs, Hammer, TVR, Kempny, Sved
That's 6 D.

Craw and Darling.

That totals $68.5m (including the carryover and Scud, etc).
That leaves about $4.5m to fill in 2Fs and 1D.
