I wonder if they have already written him off.

I read that Yzerman is considering a sign and trade so the other team can get the 8th year of the contract and TB at least gets something in return.

I am fairly certain all players are contracted in US Dollars or their equivalent.

No question that taxes are lower, and options to control them via a sharp accountant exist if you reside in the US, and even further variability based upon what state you live in, as the state tax rates vary from zero to some states above 8%.

Thanks!

It would be cool story if Stan could sign both Shipachev and Dadonov.

Which means you have to believe it is a pipedream to keep him after this year.

Then the Hawks better hope that Debrincat is Johnny Hockey 2.0 bc they will go from one Top 6 LW to ZERO top 6 LWs if Panarin is not retained past this season. IMO, Stan will dump Crawford and/or Anisimov before he lets Panarin walk. I also think he SHOULD value 72 over both 15 and 50.

Karnac says I see a Rundblad for Morin swap.
Morin will be like Stan's lucky rabbit's foot, getting him back from CBJ in the AA/Saad swap, then turning him into Richard Panik.

If Stan can use him once again to bring him home and rid us (finally) of Rundblad, it will have been a good off-season for Stan.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will not tender a qualifying offer to D Justin Schultz; he will become an UFA on July 1st. fb.me/7ftQfF0MS

If Panarin comes even close to last year's numbers, gotta believe he's going to be looking for a Tarasenko deal ($7.5M AAV).
- Hank_Greenberg

It seems that without significant player movement (i.e. cap relief) in the coming year, we all should sit back and enjoy Panarin's final year as a Hawk.

At least he'll be an RFA, so the Hawks should be able to trade his rights.

Do Hawks also need to dump salary to avoid a tagging problem if they are able to sign Panarin this year? Where do Panarin's and others' carryover and potential carryover bonuses fit into the calculus?

What good will Corey Crawford do the team if Alex Debrincat and Nick Schmaltz are the top 6 LWs in 17/18? Probably not much. If Panarin isnt retained, Stan might as well blow it after this year, IMO. The priority this summer should be to get a long term extension for Panarin before he puts up another 65+ points this year. As of today, StanBo might be able to get him at $5.5mil AAV but if he comes close to matches his rookie year production, he will get more than Forsberg got today.

I also believe that. Look at the hole Saad's departure left.

Nope. Contract wouldn't start until next season. Hawks have 57M in contracts for that year. plenty of room without tagging.

Moving players to fit it in eventually is a whole another issue.

Heck, I just re-watched this one last night with my son. He's 20, and became a QT fan after watching 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Hateful Eight'. We went back to 'Dogs' and are watching one per week, in order. "Jackie Brown' is way underrated, and I still love 'Kill Bill 1'.

'Inglorious Basterds' is not a great movie, based on QT's previous work, but it does have a few outstanding scenes, including the opener, and the one in the bar.

Thanks. At least there's one less problem to worry about. Lord knows that there's enough with the nearly flat cap and the coming expansion draft.

regarding Moore for TVR? Wouldn't make that trade. Gustafsson? For sure.

Moore is a better skater for sure. But offensive production? Not really. TVR already has tied Moore's 2nd best offensive output in one year. Moore has been kicking around for 7 years on 4 different teams already. He may be have more size but he isn't exactly physical.

Put TVR on the right side and he will be fine. For the extra money on the cap hits, TVR is the better value.

Moore being a local kid is irrelevant to any PR. 99% percent of the Hawk fans have never heard of him Darling is the much better story from a local angle anyway.

I have become numb to it all. Its win a Cup, lose players. Though, its lose players either way now.

Morin has got to be going overseas at this point.

Debrincat was being talked about on NHL radio this morning. Scouts and speculators were saying he has top 6 potential. "Not big but Panarin-like" were the words that stood out to me the most. Can't wait to see what this kid has to offer in the next two years or so.

They can be over by a certain amount and at first blush I don't think one contract would do it.

Last time Keith-Kane-Toews all signed big extensions during the same season.

JJ, is your source indicating that TVR->Moore is a "discussion", or this "Plan A"? To me, it looks like the Hawks would have incremental salary if no other moves were made.

As far as we the avid readers see it, you can 1) keep TVR and add Campbell at a discount (hopefully) as a bottom pair or 2) spend more $$$ in a swap for Moore and then backfill TVR's postion with a Gus/ved/blad monster
