Guess I'm on the fence about the potential trade, just trying to figure out how helps the cap at all.

Everyday, the discussion goes on and on about this guy or that guy. No offense to anyone about these debates, I just don't see how any trade that takes on more cap hit is really feasible.

- vabeachbear

I'm with you, Bear. I know throwing around names is fun but what I look at every day is a guy who can help the Hawks at less than 2 mil. IMO Moore falls into that category and the category where the Hawks are probably in the market at.

Yes, a TVR for Moore swap will add 800k.

Makes sense since he and Sharp are best buds. But have seen rumors that Stars can't afford Sharp.

Sweet! I'm rooting for this kid and hope he makes the big club. He may fit in well at the 4C slot with Freddy making the jump to 3C (provided he's not traded).

Hawks have a need there. Much prefer Higgins over Mash. Wonder if he would take a deal under a mil. Speedy and feisty. Seems to be a real team player
- ikeane

Higgins is not a feisty player. What does he have like 2 roughing minors in his career.

Long time reader, just joined and 1st post.

Wouldn't the best situation be keeping TVR and saving that money to either add Soupy or another defender? I think the money you would save in not trading for Moore makes more sense elsewhere.

Regarding Shipachyov he was set to make around $1.1 million in the KHL this upcoming season so I'd expect him to be looking for a raise to convince him to come to the NHL. Maybe around $2 million.

JJ, is your source indicating that TVR->Moore is a "discussion", or this "Plan A"? To me, it looks like the Hawks would have incremental salary if no other moves were made.

As far as we the avid readers see it, you can 1) keep TVR and add Campbell at a discount (hopefully) as a bottom pair or 2) spend more $$$ in a swap for Moore and then backfill TVR's postion with a Gus/ved/blad monster

- phantasmo

TVR in my opinion is still developing physically due to all the previous injuries he sustained. He will be bigger and stronger and hopefully that translates to more quickness and speed. He already thinks the game well and will get better with more experience
To me last year toward the end of the year he started jumping into plays in the offensive end and showed speed to catch up to join the play.
Maybe Q did not allow him this freedom until the end of the season so we are just beginning to see all aspects of his game.
I say keep him and see how much more he develops this season

Isn't he fairly scrappy/physical on the 4th line? Does it matter which wing he plays?
- phantasmo

No he isn't physical was a decent 3rd liner in his prime but is injury prone. Couldn't make Vancouver he can't help us.

#senators Alex Chiasson didn't receive his QO yet. He could be traded before the deadline for QO's at 5pm. #tvasports

McNeill's qualifying offer is just $874,125 (105% of $832,500). I'd be surprised of he didn't accept it. Plus, it's low enough to give him a legit shot of making the team (if he play warrants it).

I believe he is coming off his least productive offensive season at the NHL level. The price could be right

Edit: His qualifying offer would be $1,200,000 (100% of his previous contract). Might be worth a one-year deal to some team.

Hopefully can be a combo of Ben Smith/Andrew Shaw. PK guy who can slot up the 3rd and 4th line. Maybe some PP net presence.

Unless 72 has some pull with this guy, I am guessing MTL can out bid us for him with no problem. He is Russian you know, so money will be the key.

I'd settle for McNeill being a quality 4th line wing providing some grit.

Remember as Al likes to point out, they lost Oduya last year over $400K.

Filip Forsberg has only 2 full seasons in the NHL where he scored 63 and 64 points. IF Artemi Panarin eclipses 60 points again, it would be naive to think he won't get at least $6million AAV.

If the Hawks had two of his linemates it might make it easier to sign him. The Hawks should also look at signing Evgenii Dadonov.

To most of the players money is the key. Would like to know how taxes affect on players income if you play in Canada or in USA?
