I will admit that I don't know much about Moore, but from what I do know I don't see much reason to take on the additional cap hit. I'm a TvR fan, while I believe he's a solid #5 defenseman I think there is potential for more (no pun intended). - DarthKane
See, that's where I disagree. While not advocating for this deal. I can see where they see more upside with Moore as he is a better athlete. Again, Oduya and his development curve in Chicago is a somewhat rough comparison. Great athlete, flourished under Q, with some patience. And Oduya had bounced around too.
TVR is in some ways getting the most out of what God gave him today. |

Of the two, who is better in their own end? |

How is your back doing JJ? - ikeane
Better, this pinched nerve thing results in a few days of severe pain and ROM restriction, and then takes a good 10 days or so to completely dissipate. I'm about 80% thanks for asking, Skip. |

Today, probably TVR. But Moore doesn't suck there either. |

Wow...what were his numbers last season...yikes. - DK002
Really good but Panarin's were better. I would say Panarin is more dynamic as well. That sets the bar for his contract I would think. No reason why he would take a penny less than that........ Oh boy. |

Sounds like JJ is trying to get out of doing his "honey do" list...

I would just think they hang on to what space they have until they can sign some forwards. |

I'd still like to trade Crawford. Best solution out there to solve a lot of problems. |

Hawks "Core", based on players with salaries over $1m:
Toews
Kane
Hossa
AA
Krueger
Keith
Seabrook
Hammer
Crawford
Runblad
Runbad. The 10th highest paid Hawk! |
|
|
|
When you look at where the Hawks can maneuver to gain some cap space, it comes down to 3 players: Craw, AA, Krug.
Trade Craw. |

At $1.125MM, Scuderi is the 10th highest, and he is not even on the roster. Rundblad costs them only $100K since he is buried in Rockford.

Fair enough, and while I believe TvR has not reached his peak I will acknowledge that it is possible that he has.
Maybe their is more upside with Moore, I really don't know too much about the guy to say either way. |

I had heard earlier the Hawks were high on his list, if not high-est. Not sure where it would stand today and haven't heard anything yet. They have a spot for him. - John Jaeckel
Understatement - depending on cap hit. At 29 what would the contract look like? |

Im with you... but trade him where? Guy has a 6/M cap hit. Maybe he goes with a player 3-4/M hit coming back which is fine as long as it fills a hole. |

I think because of his age he can only sign a one year deal, like Kempny. |

With this lineup, they have about $4MM in cap to work with after bonuses and Scuds/Rozi/Rundblad:
Toews, Kane, Hossa, AA, Kruger, Desi, Panarin, Lundberg, Panik, Schmaltz, Motte, Hartman, (one forward space open)
Keith, Seabrook, Hammer, TVR, Kempny, Gus/Svedberg/whomever else
Crawford, Darling
There is room for more without dealing more assets away.

It looks like the Canucks are buying out Higgins. He fell out of favor in Vancouver but if he is healthy (big if) he could be a decent depth signing if he agrees to a cheap deal. |

Suspect lineup to say the least and downright worrisome if Kane or Keith (or someone like that) gets injured. |

Isn't he fairly scrappy/physical on the 4th line? Does it matter which wing he plays? |

Forsberg resigns with Preds. 6 yr 6 mil per - ikeane
The problem I still have with all the flash and dash you do get with Forsberg is the fact he in my humble opinion, doesn't hold pucks well, win enough puck battles or make impact player decsions in his carries.
SIX million ...just another on-the-job training program salary and another team that will have an ownership group crying for the Cap to rise...when they get that reality check the Hawks have dealt with times three...
Shaw long term for 4 million (not that totally phoney other figure) and Forsberg 6 million...
I like where are money is invested... |

You're off on your numbers by about $1m. Once they sign the 13th forward (I used $1m place-holder), and count BOTH Gus and Sved to get to 7 D, they have about $1.9m left.
That's straight from a spreadsheet with exact numbers. |

He can play both, but I think he's better on the left side. |
