Hawks and NJ in preliminary talks, player for player swap where the Hawks would add a little salary, but arguably upgrade the position. More size and speed, probably more production.

Will provide names tomorrow. Again, I was asked to withhold as the talks are "EARLY."

- John Jaeckel

Size? It must be Gionta!

It doesn't sound like the best of deals. Chicago takes are salary for arguably the better player and probably more production?

True, wishful thinking I guess Cammalleri would make more sense from a NJ perspective.
- walleyeb1

And he'd made sense in Chicago, playing on the first line, but I can't see adding a 5 million dollar guy.

TVR for John Moore. Just a hunch.
- 93Joe

when I looked at their roster, he's the one who stood out as the probable guy coming back given the little hints JJ gave. Would this be an upgrade? I don't know Moore's game.

Does an extra million or two in salary mean anything at this point?

Haven't done the specific math, but:

It seems obvious that a Crawford/Seabrook level contract is going to have to go - maybe more - either this summer or next - if they are going to be able to afford to resign Panarin under any realistic circumstances anyways.

Has size, some bite, reads the offensive rush pretty good. Dependable in his own end. If I am correct, they are adding ~ $800K in cap. Another left handed Dman which is a bit of concern.

Same. Gutsy player, seems to play his best when stakes are highest. Was often best player on the ice early in his career when the Devils made back to back conf finals. But I cannot see them giving him away. Excellent two way player, young, gritty, can score, good contract, etc. Must be someone like Moore or Cammalleri. I would be more than fine with the latter, just not sure how that would out $$ wise unless they give up Crawford/AA/Seabrook, in which case they should go after Ladd/Lucic over someone like that.

John Moore is an elite skater no debate on that count. Will turn 27, 1st round pick, 200+ lbs and has been with 4 NHL clubs in his short career...... He played for the Steel and I never heard he was any kind of problem and believe you can't help but hear if a kid's a problem/punk.

As mentioned he's left handed. Would I swap him for TVR? I'm higher on TVR, Gus and the 7 footer too, than most Hawk fans but I'd have to think that over a bit.

Marc Savard or Ryan Clowe for Freddy K.Stans first salary dump and I prefer Savard as next season he is off the books!

Yeah...that was 35 years ago when players were making peanuts and Alan Eagleson was lining his pockets along with the owners. Poor example, try again.
- Jeropotato

OK, I will try again: Your team management sucks. All those high draft picks, spending to the cap apparently, and not a sniff of the playoffs.

The cap penalizes teams like the 'Hawks by dragging them down to the middle of the pack. And forcing them to unload really good players. And the crappy teams cannot take advantage of that. Too bad, I guess.

One good thing about moving to Houston, there is a familiar ring to the nickname.

I put the total between $8-10M and that includes catching lightning in a bottle with some of those sub-$1M contracts.

Fast. 4-6 two way dman. Looked decent in Arizona but don't remember seeing much of an offensive flair to his game. Nice first pass out of the Zone though. Illinois native

If NJD are the dance partner it smells like AA for Cammalleri. Solves 19s want for a good LW at a lower cost than other options. Maybe Kruger gets moved up to 2C, thinking 72 and 88 will succeed with a draw winner.

Im not seeing Kruger moved for Henrique. I really think the 1LW hole is what the team's primary focus is. Whether Cam or 72 are the actual 1LW is not critical.

Looks like the hole they are willing to leave open is the bottom six, thinking they would have better luck with kids filling those roles.

Henrique at center in place of Kruger? Just a wild azz guess....not sure what else. Cammerlarri is a LW at 5 million. Don't see getting one of their top two D.
- kwolf68

If Bowman got Henrique straight up for Kruger they should give him the GM of the year award right now..

It would take A LOT more than Kruger to acquire Henrique, IMO. Really solid 200ft 2C and I don't think Kruger is nearly enough. Devils can't score, and neither can Kruger

LOL at the thought that JJ has a "source" inside the Blackhawks, that would risk his job peddling info to his buddy to write about on Hockeybuzz...

LOL....LOL

Cammalleri doesn't make any sense unless NJ retains half his salary....He's bigger cap hit than AA.

I like Palmieri as a third-line player. He's not really an upgrade size-wise though. He's also coming off of a career season and is an RFA, so his price tag would not be cheap both from a cost standpoint and from a re-signing standpoint, so I don't think he's a viable option.

That is an absolute disaster waiting to happen.

If Kruger ever has a top-six role with the 'Hawks, you better believe they won't be contending for anything.

Not to mention, the last time he played a full season was back in '08-'09.

He misses a good amount of time every season. Not sure the 'Hawks want to deal with that.
