The teams who could afford Carter, need Carter and hed actually consider going to would be pretty limited... any way you slice it, those 3 assets would be a very attractive package to a team who cant take any salary back, its pobably a better return than what Toronto got for Kessel - obie
I think you have to upgrade Mccarron. He's not a very attractive prospect to teams in my opinion. Also, have to remember Bergevin just won't trade 1st round picks for whatever reason. |

Probably best suites to be on the 2nd line. Unfortunately habs expect him to be a top line player. - cburgess
When the year starts those are just numbers to identity the lines... Gallagher will be somewhere on the 1st 2 lines... |

Which is a major problem. Every team needs a legit top line. Not 2 decent lines. |

I said Bergevin wouldn't do it in the original post, I was only throwing a package together as an example in a reply to someone saying Habs had no assets to get Carter, which they do |

Ill take 2 well balanced lines over one stacked one |

So, no point of getting a Carter type then anyways. Would stack the first line too much. |

McCarron looks like he will be, at the absolute best, Dale Weise with an actual set of testicles. |

He's a top 6 forward, but he's borderline. At this point Pleks is borderline as well. They've got 2 genuine top 6 forwards and 2 who just qualify. Needs some serious work |

Andrew Shaw is the modern day David Bolland. Not good. A nice role player but you're fooling yourself if you give him big money |

Habs suck but a feisty winger who just put 40 pts in 53 games can be included in a top-6 discussion.
BUT!!!!
Thank god peanut is here to bring some sense, so, LOLOLOL you Habs fans!! |

At this point Plekanec is not borderline, hes a 3rd line C and with 2 more additions he will start the year there and thats not a knock on him at all, it would be great if they iced a team in October that had a 3rd line of Plekanec, Carr and McCarron... and as far as Gallagher goes, to me its not borderline either, hes a top 6 F |

It was a bad trade.
Habs have no depth and should have kept those picks IMO. |

That's fair.
So Habs have 3/6 of a top 6 covered right now. Should be a fun year watching Price get shelled and stand on his head again |

It's starting to look exactly the same as the prior management. Constantly treading water, shipping out picks in minor deals to patch together some half-assed roster |

I think they will play Shaw in the top 6, whether he belongs or not remains to be seen but he was good enough to spend time on Chicago's first two lines so I think he's a better option already than the Semin, Kassian, Fleischman attempt |

This is a big summer for him, if he fails to improve the offense he might be out of time

Shaw isn't a top 6 player. If you're gonna play him there though it would help to at least have other top 6 forwards on the line, so far the 2nd line doesn't exist. Lots of question marks |

Exactly.... he can certainly pose as a top 6 if surrounded with the right elements which they don't have at the moment...Dupuis and Kunitz were never really top 6 forwards either... mind you Crosby does not play on the Habs but it's just an example |
