They probably realize kids and "millennials" don't give a (frank) about who is on screen between periods (if they are even watching at all), so might as well make it bland for all the old folks.

Also, makes Cherry more obnoxious by comparison. and Cherry's outfits do not have to compete against skinny jeans.
