You at least make a phone call, of course. But I think we need a W more than anything else.

Assuming he does sign here, what's the line up and how does it work under the cap?

- deadpoulet

Ideally, for me anyway, im sure lots would disagree... DD and Emelin gone and obviously Stamkos in! as far as the lines go I would put Stamkos between Pacioretty and Shaw, Galchenyuk and Gallagher with a another F aquired through trade or FA and Plekanec centering Carr and McCarron on the third line... I think Beaulieu, Scherbak, De La Rose, Andrighetto and Danault might all be up for grabs

By the time Price, Galchenyuk and Pacioretty are up for new deals Markov, Plekanec, Emelin and Desharnais will be off the books... i think MB fully intends to go after Stamkos as hard as anyone else, he should be anyway Bergevin will be out of a job.

Do we have the cap space for Stamkos?
- Not_Yan

Probably; barely even creative cap management at that I'd assume. Although, I'd give a Stamkos signing a generous 5% chance of happening from the MTL side and even less so from the Stamkos side.

We have room for alot if you can somehow get rid of Emelin and Desharnais

I'd have to agree Yan.

Coming from a fella that says he wants to build through the draft (trades are hard), then he trades 2 picks in a fairly deep draft.

Only to help his former team that couldn't afford Shaw..

Just watched the highlight reels from each of the draft picks. Most of it is meh... but that Mete kid they got in the 4th round looks primed to become a wing player. Especially given he is a sub 6' player.
- nords21

Sergachev, Bitten and Mete are all good pickups. Never thought Mete would slip out of the 2nd, let alone the 4th.

Good luck with that buddy! 4,1M for a 3rd pairing D and an irrevelant 3.5M 3rd line center who is undersized and unphysical, woohoo!

I think Emelin is gone in July for sure... his NTC is lifted, everbody is looking for D and its slim pickings on the FA market

You have a better chance to move Plekanec than those two. With Plek you save 6M and the 2 other unwanted, 7,6M. Problem is, if you move one of the two you will have to take a salary back or eat some of the cap hit so.

They have 12.562 M, but need to sign a few rfas. Maybe Bergevin will wait after july 1st before he signs these dudes.

They most likely need to move some $$ if they sign him.

I think there's a team that could take Emelin for a low draft pick. He's not horrible, got a good reputation as a hard hitter.

a team with lots of cap room and looking to acquire young assets would take on the 3.5 for 2 years price tag that DD carries if they also get a guy like Beaulieu or Scherbak in a trade
