but he gave away the two he had in hand this year to do it. - Fountain-San
As we all know, trades are hard. One has to give, to get. And again, so much complaining about Eller, and now he's gone. So I would say that the return for him was pretty good; above average for sure, considering how bad we all know he is. |

He's a very good third liner that can step up on the second line in key situations.
Not sure he will give you the points output you would expect of a second line guy over 82 games. - Fredobface
honestly that's the scary part for me. I get the 3rd liner part but basically this means they will get comfortable with Andrew Shaw in a top 6 spot and he'll stay there becasue they have no one else and they can't afford anyone else |

But it's the capital's so likely a 55-60 pick, they gave 39 and 45. - Fredobface
Is Andrew Shaw better than Eller in your opinion? |

why do you think that? we can all agree that Therrien is incredibly loyal to Desharnais, and that Bergevin is incredibly loyal to Therrien. i think we might not necessarily see DD first over the boards on every single PP next year but i see no reason to believe that he won't be a big part of the team. |

also if Brgevin is gonna start poaching all the guys from Chicago that were so key in their cup runs and that he was so instrumental in getting there someone needs to break it to him that it won't work if he doesn't get Kane and Toews and Keith |

No. He will be a fan favorite. Another Gallagher.
The Habs will be one of the most hated teams in the league this year with those two and PK. |

Just watched the highlight reels from each of the draft picks. Most of it is meh... but that Mete kid they got in the 4th round looks primed to become a wing player. Especially given he is a sub 6' player. |

Shaw is only 24, if he gives you 20G, 20A. good net presence, some grit and some leadership I can live with him on the second line.
Now who would be on the LW if we assume he plays with Plekanec. |

I agree. So that compensates for the difference in picks, IMO. |
