Would definately be a change of scenery to see some skill up front.
- Fredobface

you'd have have McDavid playing on Matt Hendrick's wing, RNH playing 23 minutes/night on the top line with Benoit Pouliot and Patrick Maroon. Draistaitl and Puljujarvi would be camp cuts until they learn how to character better. Nail Yakupov's corpse would be at the bottom of a lake.

It goes without saying but the two 2nd round picks they had in hand were another way of adding skill.

Andrew Shaw. I really, really don't get it.

$4M per season for Andrew Shaw?????? Are you kidding me???

That is a disgusting overpayment for a guy who'll contribute 25 points per year. This team is in big trouble

on the surface i don't mind the Eller-Shaw swap, mostly for the Eller part because it was painful to watch him play hockey. what i don't like is the fact that we got rid of Eller and are using that $$ and more on a guy who doesn't fill the team's most glaring need. i also don't like the fact that a team with a terrible prospects pool went into the weekend with 2 second rounders and only ended up picking once in the first 69 picks. i had assumed that Bergevin would trade back into the second round once or twice. the thought process seems to be weird.

RW is a mess he needed to adress that. Still think he's going after a UFA, but worst case scenario and he comes up short Friday he can say he got Shaw and there's a spot open at camp.

Listen, I'm not saying Shaw is a solution to all of the team's woes. But he's a hard working guy with a bit of scoring touch, and he's 24. Everyone here complained about Eller, so just shut up, the biggest problem on the team the last few years was traded, and a good player came back the other way.

Maybe a good pick up but you don't trade two top-60 picks for a 3rd liner IMO.

He's a very good third liner that can step up on the second line in key situations.
Not sure he will give you the points output you would expect of a second line guy over 82 games.
