Stewart is a tough scorer type of like to play in that spot
But the guy is a no show half the season
Versteeg- meh
Is grabner any good? - Ihateallofu
Decent PK, VERY fast... hands aren't great, but he'll get opportunities. |

Neids is a quality piece, but I say we chase a replacement for the 3c in granlund if we're dealing nuge for dumba
Nuge and oesterle
Dumba and granlund - Ihateallofu
I just don't see that being a deal they'd accept. Maybe I'm undervaluing RNH, but I think Haula is a much more realistic target for us to pursue in that deal. He's a bit bigger, a bit faster, and a better of a fit for 3C duties while still being a Finn. I'd prefer keeping Oesterle if they'd take someone else, but obvious I wouldn't let that be the deal breaker. |

Frustration? No poop! JP is a great piece but I would trade him in a heartbeat if we got a real D in the deal.
The only thing I really like about adding another young forward is that I feel better about potentially trading Wberle. - Jeropotato
I hate the idea of trading eberle. I would much rather move nuge. I don't like the idea of making JP our top RW I'm his rookie year. RD is by far our greatest need but before last night RW was not far behind. If we trade eberle our depth is garbage
JP
Yak
Kassian
Korpikoski
Let's ease JP into the lineup at a 3rd line role. What if he needs time in the AHL? Then we'd end up with what happened in draisaitl first year. Plus having eberle AND JP's right shot means that we have one right shop forward on each power play and then we won't be forced to have letestu on our PP solely on the fact we needed his right shot.
Let's trade nuge instead. |

I think that trade is pretty close if you add yak. But I agree the main part of the deal is dumba. If they offer haula instead of granlund/Nino I take that deal
Edit: although there is a pretty bid difference in salary between haula and granlund. For a cap strapped team I wonder if they'd want to keep haula over granlund because haula is only a 1 mill cap hit compared to granlund a 3 mill? |

I was thinking a cheap FA or a separate deal for a 3C. I think Nino is a chia kinda player. Granlund would be good but I feel he probably has more value than Nino. I would even go yak nuge oesterle for dumba and granlund.
But granlund being Finnish would help out Puljujarvi I would think.

I can live with that. - kessellover69
Hall- Leon- UFA (Versteeg)
Maroon- McDavid- Eberle
Pouliot- Haula- Puljujarvi
Hendricks- Letestu- Kassian
Lander, Pakarinen
Klefbom- Dumba
Sekera- Trade (Stone or Savard)
Davidson- UFA (Redmond)
Fayne
Talbot
UFA (Montoya or Johnson)
That's a lineup I can live with The special teams would have a lot of moving parts. All of the Dmen are capable to good puck movers that I'd trust on the point on the PP with solid enough shots to add an extra element. The bulk of the PP work would go to Dumba, but I'd trust all of them on our PP as one will be QB'd by McDavid, the other by Dumba or Leon. |

I get what you are saying about JP but I wouldnt mind seeing him and McDavid in say pre season to see if they can develop any chemistry and if JP shows he isnt ready then go from there...its pre season so its not really rushing him into anything

If JP plays well in preseason and he earns the right to play with McDavid or drai game one then great. So let's say we trade eberle for a dman and JP comes into camp and struggles. Then what? Would we force him in the lineup like we did with drai because we need too. At that point you can't put him in the AHL because then we'd have

I dont disagree per say but lets say either McDavid gets hurt again or Drai falls off a cliff after putting up a good year then what? There are so many ways you can spin itto keep one or the other

We've gotta trade one and we have more depth to replace Nuge than we do to replace Eberle. I get it's a risk, but it's the kind of risk we'll be dealing with every year. It's reality. |

You're right. Obviously our centre depth takes a huge hit without nuge. But I also feel that nuge will get us a better dman than eberle will. I also like the depth chart to start the year better with eberle in it.

I personally like the first one better and I think we'll be able to find a competent 3C but obviously if we get a top 4 RHD I can live with either lineup |

I was more or less playing devils advocate no matter who you trade there will always be that what if regardless but if it helps the TEAM be better overall then im good with it regardless of who it is in the end

All depends on the dman coming back. If it's a straight 1 for 1 swap then it really hurts our depth. But I feel like we're gonna have to settle for a lesser dman(still a top 4) packaged with a mediocre forward (either a C or RW) to fill nuge/ebs spot |

Alot of centers play wing. You can move Pouliot or Maroon to the RW. Maybe sign a free agent like Purcell. Hall and Draisaitl were ppg players before he got traded. |

I don't think he was our target anyways
My guess is tkachuk or a defender
As long as puljujarvi turns into a two way top 6 beast I'm happy with whatever happens with Dubois
6'4- 205- brilliant skater/dynamic talent and solid defensively

There's really no room for RNH on this team. He'll be playing 3rd line minutes for 6 million. It'd be a lot smarter to flip that for Shattenkirk.
Also Chairelli has 12 million to work with here, so offer sheeting the poop out of RFAs would be great.

Exactly. JP is a better fit for us and he's more NHL ready. Sure Dubois could end up being better but so could a guy in the 5th round. I'm very happy with JP |
