How often do FA acquisitions(especially the bigger names) actually work out for the teams that sign them? Without looking up any information I'm guessing it's way less than 50% of the time it works out, more often than not the top FA players end up being over payed both in dollars and in term and never live up to the value of the contracts. Count me among the non-Xbox fans that is very happy they won't be big players in FA. - jaydogg1974

Of course JR isn't going to broadcast that he's looking to trade Fleury. He's going to sit back and let people call and make offers for fleury and then jump on the best one.
I do have a question though. Can fleury waive his NMC right before the expansion draft and then that would allow the pens to protect Murray? - drummer829
Nope and why would he? |

Rychel for Scott Harrington....the exact trade I proposed back when we had Harrington - YouMeAndDupuis9
I was actually even in favor of moving Pouliot for Rychel last summer after Harrington was already moved in the Kessel deal.

I'd be happy if he turned into Komarov. Sounds almost like a Hornqvist 2.0 |

The goalie situation will work itself out. Why worry about it more than the FO is worrying about it? They've got it covered, no big deal.
And they'll sign one of Schultz or Lovejoy. Boom, 7 NHL D. Which is what they had before trading for Schultz at the deadline last year. No worries.
And Bengtsson is a very promising guy really - certainly more promising than Warsofsky. The Penguins can also find another Warsofky/Erixson type AHL lifer ala Chorney no problem.
I just think if there was ever a time to have a little faith in those running the show, it's now.
If they would have listened to this board's pleas for the last year or so, the Penguins would be in awful shape. - hardnosed

physical players are great but I do agree when you see scouting reports saying slow footspeed and no offensive upside, it's hard to get excited about that given the Penguins current system/identity. |

I'm hoping Vanek can be snagged for a cheap 1 or two year deal since he got bought out. Hes 32 or 33, still got a great shot and some juice in the tank. - Guile

Its not Borgstrom. That's a different player altogether. His name is Bjorkqvist. Significantly cooler name btw. |

t apparently makes more sense to over-react to what some blogger wrote about a third round pick on Twitter than to trust the Penguins' scouts and their connections to Jay McKee. The Penguins employed two guys in their Cup run who were defensively minded, and both of those guys played great.

They did? Who was that again? Cole and Lovejoy? The worst 2 players on the team? I swear you have a tv that shows you different versions of the games than the rest of us. - Dcoms

FWIW - every scouting report says Bjorkqvist is a LH RW. Then Rutherford called him a center. |

What do Kunitz and Fleury have to do with the fact that the majority of FA contracts given out are over payments and bad contracts? Even if Kunitz does completely suck next year I'd still be happier with that for 1 year than being tied to a guy that is over payed for 4-6 years. I know playing Be a GM Mode on NHL '16 is really fun but this is real world not Xbox and big FA contracts bite teams in the ass more often than not.

People are acting like this Connor Hall guy is never going to get better. He's like 18 years old. He'll go to the prospect camp and the pens coaching staff will tell him what he needs to work on to make the team. Holy hell people... |

"Feel free to call me a brat for thinking these things, but I feel perfectly rational."
Feeling rational isn't having a sky is falling perspective, this is rather irrational. You are a "fan", a true fan has trust in an organization and doesn't need to micro manage for a position they don't hold in the organization.
I get the mentality of loving a sports team and being passionate about said sports team. However having the mentality of a 7 year old and complaining about everything a team does only shows ones ignorance. This is not signally out you personally, this board is just loaded with hilarious points of view. I seriously wonder if there are only 5-10 year olds on here.....we can all remember back to when we were children and cried when our team lost....well I seriously think some of the so called "adults" on here never grew out of that mentality. One just has to look in the mirror and realize hockey while may be a big part of life, isnt life and anyone complaining or in the sky is falling mentality is in a state of delirium and disillusionment. It shows no trust and no loyalty, its a paradox you have to understand for yourself or continue to act like a 7 year old. - Darklight11
What a douche bag comment. It's totally fine to be passionate about something. It makes you human. Maybe it's ok to find something as a young child and carry it with you through adulthood. IT dosn't make you immature it makes you you. If you're so superior to all of us that have an opinion of how things went the last 2 days then maybe you should stop slumming with us and go find somewhere to be worshiped like the god you must think you are? |

No, they didn't. I'm familiar with Borgstrom. He is going to my alma mater, Denver. The guy we drafted was Kasper Bjorkqvist, a kid from Finland. |

It's funny how you always go to insults and belittling people then just stating your opinions and leaving at that. Plus stating your lame Xbox statment over and over and over again never gets old.
My opinions are my opinions I could care less if you don't agree. |

|
That is correct. - jaydogg1974
I could definitely see that happening. It's not the greatest situation, but if Fleury is truly helping out Murray develop, then why not enter the season with 2 starters.
Plus, other teams could need a goalie and if they know that he'll go for free to Las Vegas, maybe some teams will throw some picks for fleury. |

Lovejoy was a big part of the Pens winning this year. As was Kuhnackal. Not every player needs to fit the same mold. Besides everything I've heard is that he has skill too. I guess we trust JR when it fits our argument. Not a wasted pick from most experts!!! |

Hoping you're right. Not gonna be comfortable until the season starts and I see what what we have. Usually I spend my summers worrying about Notre Dame football, but after years and years of futile hope I've finally come to the conclusion that they're beyond saving. The Penguins are all I have. - Victoro311
We have to all brace ourselves for the likelihood the team is not going to repeat as champs. It's too hard and grueling of a playoff run and if you win there is not enough time in between the end of the season and the start of the next(4 months). These guys are used to getting around 6 months off and they all like to take at least a month off from doing anything just to heal up and recharge. That leaves a 3 month window to train and get ready and the guys playing in the world cup get less. Guys like Maatta are going to see WAAAAAYYY to much hockey in 2016 and will burn out. Not trying to be a downer but it's been 20 years since someone repeated as champs. |
