Rutherford inherited a horsehair situation really when you think about it as far as a farm system. Didn't have many picks last year. This draft does mirror a Shero draft though.

Shero's a dumpster fire. He's doing the same with Jersey now. Go read their board. I would never compare Ruth to Ray......at least at this point.

Write up on the Second round pick... Hockey Prospectus says:

"Aside from the physical aspect, Borgström is a complete package. He is a constant threat for the defenders with his great vision and quick and accurate wrist shot. If he could add more muscle and learn how to use his large frame, he could be very well turn out to be a steal in the upcoming draft. He has committed to University of Denver for next season."

Yep.

It's the Internet - everyone is suddenly an expert on everything, even when they know nothing about what they're talking about. Team just won the Cup 13 days ago and folks are complaining about 3rd round draft picks.

People are unironically talking about signing Boedker or Okposo like there's a need or the cap room to do so.

People are legit upset that the Penguins look like they're have two quality goalies again, when it just took two quality goalies and Jeff Zatkoff's veteran experience to qualify for the playoffs and win the Cup.

It's kind of embarrassing honestly. The Penguins are in great shape short and long term, yet fans are acting like entitled brats because they're not getting their way.

I disagree with you about being in great shape long term.

Pittsburgh wins the Stanley Cup with a GM that wins the best GM award and many of the comments is about how dumb they are making draft selections. Some of you called him out with most every move he made or didn't make.

Maybe you who always complain should check really dumb drafting with Ross Mahoney leading the way for decades with the Capitals. And he's still there calling the shots. You Penguin fans don't know what pain is.

When your team drafts a player and you complain how stupid it is without stating who they should have selected in their place what worth do you bring to the table?

So there's a Rust, a Kuhnhackl, a Murray, a Sundqvist and a Wilson in this draft class? Sweet.

We drafted Filip Gustavsson, not Borgstrom.

I'm not saying we need a 6 million dollar guy.

Boedker is going to get 5 mil + and Okposo will get 6 +... Who is an affordable top 6 LW that's available?

Jesus dude. It's ok to still have concerns in spite of success. I'm very optimistic about our future. I always was until this past season and then the Penguins renewed my faith in a big time way. But there were some issues that needed to be addressed this offseason in order to give us the best possible chance to succeed moving forward. They weren't addressed and now I'm nervous about losing Murr and we have 6 NHL defensemen, one of which is Derrick Pouliot. Even if we sign one more guy, what if multiple d men get hurt like they often do for us? Who's coming up from WBS? We just put a lot of eggs in the Bengtson basket. He looks promising but is an unknown commodity. Feel free to call me a brat for thinking these things, but I feel perfectly rational.

They're set at the hard to find positions. They'll need to remake their winger corps over the next 4 or 5 years, but that's a ways off, they'll clear a ton of winger money before having to do so, and they've got one probable solution already in Sprong.

It was Kasper Bjorkqvist. To me his report read like a Hornqvist type player.

Matty Mac apparently wants to come back to TD. Creating a sequel season with those characters and the original director Fukunaga to keep that psychopath Pizzolatto in check would be hoss.

Trying to find one. That said, I actually value Finn Dmen. They usually overachieve to me.
- Oneonta Penguin

Who doesn't. If I was told to make a team from scratch and couldn't pick anyone currently in the NHL or AHL, I'd take a trip to Finland and hold open tryouts.

The goalie situation will work itself out. Why worry about it more than the FO is worrying about it? They've got it covered, no big deal.

And they'll sign one of Schultz or Lovejoy. Boom, 7 NHL D. Which is what they had before trading for Schultz at the deadline last year. No worries.

And Bengtsson is a very promising guy really - certainly more promising than Warsofsky. The Penguins can also find another Warsofky/Erixson type AHL lifer ala Chorney no problem.

I just think if there was ever a time to have a little faith in those running the show, it's now.

If they would have listened to this board's pleas for the last year or so, the Penguins would be in awful shape.

Connor Hall writeup... "Hall is a strong kid and likes to use his size and strength to play a nasty, physical game. He punishes forwards, especially along the boards. He makes life difficult for the opposition and can quiet the opposition by making them afraid to go into tough areas of the ice. Sometimes he can cross the line--he served an 11-game suspension for a check to the head to start the season. He's willing to stand up for teammates and drop his gloves if necessary though."

I saw MM dropped the hints on the radio earlier this week, would be freaking awesome for a sequel for 2017 with those guys. Plus, you got to see some Alexandra Daddario, which is always good.

Honestly I am so happy that Season 2 happened. How bad it ended up being came completely out of left field. It was so (frank)ing fun watching it with a bunch of buddies expecting it to be the next great thing and then just mocking it. It was the most ironic thing ever created.

theres definitely a balance between thinking the sky is falling and still being a little irked that certain things arent being addressed with adequate urgency.

this team just won a cup. i will cherish that glow. but it also doesnt mean as a fan i give 0 (frank)s about looking forward.

that being said, this team still returns largely in tact. for a championship team, they really didnt get picked apart by exits. they have more cheap and versatile youth than ever before. the draft is largely such a crap shoot anyway, made even more so without having a first rounder or high second. it happens.

still though, i cant get on board with the handling of the goalie situation. however, its possible that fleury could largely be dictating this as well. thats something we dont know. and it makes it hard to totally judge

I'm kind of liking the goalie pick now. With Murray going to be here a long time, we can possibly flip Jarry for another part. Imagine if Jarry kills it this year in the AHL.
