Time for dinner. Still have some pizza left over from a visit to Little Italy, in Ogdensburg, NY. Best pizza that I know. Guy is from Montreal and lives in Ogdensbug. His only issue is being a grade A Habs fan. Used to have memorabilia there, but since the fire, he's taken it out. He's had the Stanley Cup there, when the Habs last won it......decades ago!

To put the endorsement deals into perspective, Booster Juice's big campaign with Bautista came in at a total cost of 1.5M over 4 years... Including media costs, production, etc.

That's a far cry from handing a guy 3M per year... And how many brands do you think have that kind of coin for the Canadian market? Keeping in mind also that any sports gear brands are off-limits, because Nike already has Stammer.

The endorsements are really overstated here.

- Feeling Glucky?

People are dreaming with their endorsement arguement. Big money endorsements come from big companies and a Toronto area kid, playing in Toronto doesn't sell as well in the U.S. as people think.

Or do people believe he is getting 5 million endorsement deals from Farouk's One Stop in Brampton.

Why does JVR have to go?
put him on the 3rd line with marner and matthews

- grim1911

He dosent have to go. in the past I've always said not to trade JVR. He's been my player on the leafs the past years. I even have his jersey. I hope he's in a leafs sweater next season. But what's really important right now is acquiring a top pairing d man. I'm sure the leafs will attempt to do it without dealing JVR but if they can't I would not be surprised if he was dealt for Shattenkirk or Fowler in some sort of deal.(not straight up) The leafs have a plan. And if they think they have a shot at Vessey he makes a winger expendable

Thank you. I've stated many times its over stated. He already has Nike/Bauer, Tissot and Coca-Cola/Powerade. Not many national level deals out there and Crosby/McDavid/Toews etc still have a large portion of that tied up.

Bob McCown seems to think that they've found a Louphole where Stamkos could earn an additional 3.5M per year for marketing.

I'm not sure how that would work, but I don't consider it that farfetched.

None of us now what he can get. It all depends on what Bell/Rogers or say pizza pizza or ford or a million other companies are will to pay him. His popularity would be insane in this city. Someone will pay him to represent them. How much and who nobody knows. It's could be 200k a year it could be 2 million a year. Nobody really knows. I don't think anyone would be trying to sell him in the us and in the us hockey players are one of the lowest form of athlete companies go to.

Heres away to look at a Stamkos signing. When Nylander was picked...sweet not a bad pick, could be good. When Marner was picked. Hell's yes, this kid has talent. Mathews picked. Workbook, we got first. Not once do I look at those 3 and think of a face of a franchise. But with Stamkos, I see the face, I see home town boy, captain, emotion, goals, mentor, momentum, Jersey sales, merchandising, endorsments. You pay the lad what it takes. If in 5 years some of these kids end up better then him. It means he did his (frank)ing job and money well spent...

He could likely get lots of local deals. Ford does with many guys on the Oil and Flames. But the national deals are what pay big bucks. And they are limited. I could see him getting a 1-2 mill boost but not the 5-8 some are thinking he will get.

Stammer says "(frank) it," I'm signing with the Sabres and signing a massive endorsement deal with Lockport Gambino Ford.

Yeah, I don't know if he could setup a private company, Stamkos Marketing or something, and MLSE could acquire contract services for appearances or endorsements.

McDavid is on with Rogers already. Remains to be seen I guess. All speculation until he actually signs.

Bingo. The endorsements players get to play in Toronto are good for Kadri/Lupul level guys who don't make as much on their contract, so these small level things from Paramount or whatever actually make a difference.

National level deals for star players come no matter where you are.

Further to this..now that this "loophole" has been exposed and discussed. What would stop Buffalo or anyone else from using it too? Pegula could pay him off the books just as easily as Toronto.

Exactly. Nobody knows. It's crazy how people on here think they do. We have to wait and see.

And if Hedo (frank)ing Turkoglu can do commercials for Pizza Pizza & Bargnani can do pasta commercials, I'm sure Stamkos can do a few Pizza Pizza Commercials & some Macedonian foods as well lol.

Nothing would stop them.

This is just us talking about a way to get Stamkos to play close to his family while paying him as much as anyone else can. In the end its up to Stamkos not us.
