And for the record Sale is having a Cy Young type season so far. Not many teams are hitting him.

Too bad that the Leafs couldn't do something like this: A 1 year deal for Stamkos, at $14 million dollars. Work out a deal with Tampa, to get him before July 1st, with a 4th rounder, or a mid level prospect, then sign him. On July 1st, give him an 8 year, 70 million dollar contract, that kicks in on July 1st, 2017. Stamkos gets overpaid for one year and ends up with a total of 9 years. Front load the contract. By the time he is 32 or 33 and in decline, he'll still get paid. It's spreading out the cap hit, to make it easier going forward.

I agree.....however Leafs management may not. I'd rather that he goes to Buffalo or Detroit, for $12 million per, and screw their cap up, going forward for 7 years. If the management just has to have him, do something to reduce the cap hit, going forward. Giving him $14 million for one year, with 8 years at 8.5 would significantly help this club, going forward. I don't want the Leafs to give him a 7 year X 11 million dollar deal, knowing that our young guns will need a significant increase, in 3 years.

Totally doubt it. Only two are Mathews and Marner ttha might end up better but both will prolly not out score him. Different types of players

That's a far cry from handing a guy 3M per year... And how many brands do you think have that kind of coin for the Canadian market? Keeping in mind also that any sports gear brands are off-limits, because Nike already has Stammer.

Thank you. I've stated many times its over stated. He already has Nike/Bauer, Tissot and Coca-Cola/Powerade. Not many national level deals out there and Crosby/McDavid/Toews etc still have a large portion of that tied up.
