I don't think Zaitsev signs without a commitment of getting top 4 mins on the blueline. Plus Hunwick is back. Connor Carrick looked really good in the NHL & AHL. Gonna be tough. That's 4 guys at least, maybe 5 with Carrick. Leaves 1 spot + plus an extra for guys like Percy, Corrado, Marincin (who looked good after Dion), and possibly a couple Marlies (Loov, Valiev) and possible Free Agents. But like you said, it's always good to have competition.

Martin 2yr , 3.5M (1.75M a yr)

Too bad that the Leafs couldn't do something like this: A 1 year deal for Stamkos, at $14 million dollars. Work out a deal with Tampa, to get him before July 1st, with a 4th rounder, or a mid level prospect, then sign him. On July 1st, give him an 8 year, 70 million dollar contract, that kicks in on July 1st, 2017. Stamkos gets overpaid for one year and ends up with a total of 9 years. Front load the contract. By the time he is 32 or 33 and in decline, he'll still get paid. It's spreading out the cap hit, to make it easier going forward.

Baltimore just isn't that great either though and Boston is as inconsistent as Toronto. Anything can happen.

edit: and Baltimore's road record is poop and they have 12 more road games than home games the rest of the way.
