I was thinking why the Leafs didn't trade 2 2nd rounders for Shaw like MTL did.

24, won 2 cups, plays all 3 positions and is gritty.

That's what everyone will say. But that is so far off the borad why not trade down or grab him with 57 or 61? Probably no threat anyone else would grab him. Oh well

exactly. i can't believe they didn't make a trade. they said teams are scared because he's under contract in the khl till 2018. he might actually be good. we will see

surely we could have moved pick 31 for a couple mid-late 2nds?

That's not actually a bad thing. Let him play in a pro league without taking on another contract.

Could be a Zaitsev in a couple of years; and with Shanny's Russian connections, I'm sure they know a lil sumfin sumfin.
