You don't pass on him being gifted to us

And a defender that helps in 2-3 seasons is NOT what the oilers need right now

They have guys they're waiting on/on the cusp.
They need defenders that can help now.

Absolutely stoked they got puljujarvi. So stoked.

He also makes it a non issue to deal yaks for whatever we can get. Or pure totally even eberle without gutting the right side

- Ihateallofu

With good reason, that was a bonus gift for the Oilers last night.

So much this

Feels like we won another lottery in many ways

Gives us a ton more options to make moves too

Just concentrate on getting that defender now

Sounds like dumba might be the target now.
Not the ideal piece, but with options drying up, he's s brilliant skater and can move the puck.
I'll take it with a small addition for nuge at this point

I think you should chaulk it up to how bad Jim Benning, Joe Sakic, Marc Bergeron and anyone named Murray are at their jobs. You're right, I shouldn't be anointing the guy a genius two rounds into his first draft, but it's really more of a comment on how dumb some teams are and how hilarious it is that people were so against hiring Chayka when there are so many brutal GMs.

I mean, I'd be a better GM than most of those guys, so it's really a tongue in cheek sort of comment.

real talk now because I think its fair...what comes first....1. The Oilers finally getting a Defenseman or 2. The Leafs making the playoffs...I mean this could go both ways sadly

I don't think the picks have been the issue really

Yaks is the only one id certainly change.
But even then, Murray wouldn'tve changed much thus far

Either way, hoping chia can get a deal done with nuge for a defender. And I think puljujarvi could fit right in as we don't have to throw him to the wolves

A healthy Klefbom, Furthur development from nurse/Davidson and a move for a another defender - things could turn very quickly

But I won't hold my breath

- Ihateallofu

I cant imagine Chiarelli's s shock when Puljujarvi fell to 4th. I think every scenario he imagined didn't include that. We know that he needed defense but how can you turn that down?

Well, in usual Maple Leafs fans fashion, initial reaction is we hate whatever management did. We lost the Kessel trade (before even knowing what the full details were, and we did badly at the draft before knowing what the picks become.

Unlike last year, when we traded down, and everyone was pissed about trading down, we wished we had traded down this year.

Adding to this, unlike last year when we were pissed that we only drafting 5"9 midgets that, by all accounts, will get killed in the NHL, this year we are pissed that we drafted a combination of fat or lanky guys.

We are also pissed Bozak wasn't traded away, even though that would either leave us short on centres or look slightly dubious about our level of confidence in signing Stamkos.

A good general rule of thumb is whatever management do, we wish the opposite had happened.

All in all, another dark sad day in Maple Leafs history

The guy the leafs picked in the 2nd round yesterday looks to have better stats than the guy Dallas took in the first round last year
